  1. If that is the 170 merc motor' date=' I loved mine. MAN was that easy to work on. Never had to do this job (the riser), but the engine was a horse. That double colling system would work all day long and not skip a beat.[/quote']

Not 170, 135 The riser I am refering to is the raw water intake and the exaust all in one. Seems very odd but I am worried I am getting water into my exaust valves:eek: The gasket is leaking on the outside and probably inside also.

  2. Will you be out on the weekend? I normally don't fish on Fridays. I should be out sometime this week thinking either Tuesday - thursday

Weekends are tough for me, wife works 7 to 7 and I cant fit my kids car seats in the Islander, yet:lol: Plus I just figured out that I need to replace a gasket on my motor:(. Plus my RH's are back ordered:( And my new tracks havent arrived yet:( So Friday looks like a no go:( Probably this month looks like a no go:mad:

  3. Just wondering if any of you have done this just for fun? I know alot of you already fish the big money tournaments and derby's, but have any of you maybe challenged a buddy on any given day to a match fishing match? I have seen this done on other websites between members and thought it was cool. It would be really interesting to put one port against another, or even one lake against the other. All in fun of course. You could have a group calender set up and have everyone add the days they know they are going to fish. Match ups would be set up depending on that. Then the teams would email a moderator "sorry guys" and recieve there "secret item" that needs to be in the photo with the days catch. Its funny to see a guy or gal holding a fish with a baseball glove or baby bottle! By no means is this a challenge to any of you, I just thought because Mike and the moderators have all this extra time on there hands they could set this up!!

  4. 30 pound 7 strand trolling wire. Located here.

Its ok to run your divers at 1 or 1.5. You will get close to a 1' down for every 2' out ratio at that. Rarely will you tangle with your riggers. Trolling sideways to a strong current may blow them over.

I've ran 4 diver on my 17' Sea nymph with no troubles before. I really like 4 divers this time of year, when the fish are hitting spinnies/flies. We run 4 wire divers, 2 mags set at 1, and 2 mags set at 2.5. my low divers will run at the 1/2 ratio, and the highs will run at a 1/3 ratio.

Here's a great shot of two divers running next to each other.

Welcome to the site Boomer. Where do you fish out of?

Ken, Those two rods look similiar in lenth, is it OK to run 9ftrs? I plan on adding some wire low divers soon and was wondering if anyone had any problems running two rods the same lenth that close together.

  5. Search functions do work for registered users. I have found answers to hundreds of questions and found that this site ROCKS!!!!!

P.S. Anybody have any info on how to become a supporting member???

  6. Thanks for all the help, I think Im leaning towards Jim's suggestion and maybe picking up a handfull of DB's to reach the depths I need. From what I hear theres nothing fun about a full core, Im just thinking about my 9 year old son whining......Plus Jim's got some rookie of the year numbers. Id be happy with half of that my first year:thumb: Thanks again for all the replys.

  7. So if you guys only had 2 rods for lead core, what would they be? I have bought 2 spools of Suffix core and planned on taking 2 of my 4 DR rods and taking 2 colors for SWR's. That leaves me with a few different combos to choose, Like a 6 on one and full core on the other, or 8 on both, or 6 on both and keep 4 on the boat when I loose my SWR.:grin:I plan on adding more rods for boards next year, Im new at this and figure I will get the hang of running two before I run two per side. Also whats the best way to set it out on the board? Run it down the chute, clip the board on and swing it around? What about the dipsey rods? Man Im lost, first trip coming soon, any help would be great.

    P.S. Im fishing Milwaukee

  8. i found in my smoking that if i keep the heat to around 180 durining the first hour to 2 hours that the fish has a better smoke taste to it.

i'll have to try that brine always on the look out for a new taste.

the brine i make up is: and not trying to hijack your post:

    1 gallon water

2 cups morton tender quick salt

1 small box of dark brown sugar

    1 bottle treoki sause

    1/4 bottle liguid smoke

    1/4 cup of capt morgan

let soak for 24 to 36 hours and smoke

Treoki???? Or Teriyaki? Just want to make sure im not missing out on something new, sounds good
