  1. One of the guys i am talking about was in a booth next to you at the show and is really good friends with Chip. I am not mentioning his name as he doesn't want it used in discussions but you can figure it out as you know him also. He said the same thing wire was the hottest thing but the other five riggers and out rods weren't producing the way they should. By eliminating the wire he was able to make all his rods productive all day not just the wire rods. When i was fishing with him last spring getting ready for walleye we got on the topic on his boat and he said you will never see wire on his boat again and that there are other capts that have done the same thing.

i said my rigger were my hottest rods on my boat not wire but the wire dose not seem to shut down my riggers at all they go all day

  2. Tangled mess I'm sure you are right about keeping it simple with one length of copper. It was recommended on an earlier post that I should use 40 lb. as a backer. It seemed the extra 10 lb. would be good insurance if I've got room on the 800. Is Ande the brand that you would use for a backer?

yes ande is what i use for backer either 20 or 25 and you will be fine that is what i have on all of my rods if you break the 20 or 25 than you got your drag to tight the 800 will do you fine with 20#

  3. In late june and early july you can get some big steelhead in 80 to 150 fow southof ps i took one 19#s in the frist week of july one year but on a normal year you can get them up to 15#s that time of year your best chance is to go south out of holland and head down tords saugatuck as they have the river the summer steelhead will run up at that time of year last year was not that great for them but in years past it has been good for them at that time of year your best rods will be your coppers for them with mag spoons

  4. Thanks for the explanation on the power pro, that makes sense now. I think I'll have enough capacity on the 800's using 40LB mono, but I haven't used the calculator yet.

you do not need 40# just uses 20 or 25 # than you can get more backer i run 800's and use 20 # mono it is best to just set up rods with diffrent segments of copper and set them up to the detphs you want becuse like i said before the more you mess around with thing the better chance the fish has to get off or for you to tangle thing up and cost you more money by tring to save money and thats from exprince

  5. you do not need the twili tip just use a regular rod the copper will not hurt the gides as it is softer than the guides and any time you add knots or weight to aline you are asking for problems the more times you have to stop and take some thing off the more time the fish has time to get off if you get a 300 it will work most of the year

  6. the farther south you at that time of the year the better you will do the brown fishing is not what it use to be up by you board diver and riggers all will work use smaller spoons and fish top to bottom as the water is perrty much the same temp top to bottom dont be afraid to go out deeper some times in the spring the fish will sneek by out deeper oranges greens and blues work well at that time of year very your speed till you find what works and stick with the trool and you will do alright
