  1. I will be there also. Me and a buddy drive in from Grand Rapids and we were glad we did.
  2. When they put on the new lower unit they did not adjust the shift lever and the throtle would not accelerate past the reverse speed. They fixed that but after I took out again, it would not shift out of reverse, Promptly got it back to the shop. I received a call today that it was fixed. Whan I asked what was wrong they said a shift rod had come loose and they made sure it would not happen again. I hope they are right. Right now that boat has spent more time in the shop than in the water and I dont care who you are, that a sin. On a positive note, it is still only May. Thanks for asking.
  3. so says my wife. (For a guy new to Big Water fishing, this site is like crack) Every time she sees me on the computer I'm on this site. I firmly believe you give credit where credit is due and good service deserves to be compensated so I had no choice but to become a supporting member. Thanks to this site I'm up until all hours of the night and I'm a little more tired when I wake up in the morning, but when I do go to sleep, visions of catching fish on the Big Lake, fill my dreams (Am I laying it on too thick? Did I go too far? I'm trying for genuine heartfelt emotions but I think I might be coming across as desperate. ) Thanks for the great site and I'll see you on the water (If my boat ever gets out of the shop) -Senez
  4. I got my HAM Radio license last month so the stuff is somewhat fresh in my mind and Jim (1 MAINIAC) is correct in his post.
  5. I saw a cougar today in East Grand Rapids, She was sitting at Starbucks sipping a Latte, HAHAHAHAHA!!!
  6. I picked it up Friday after work and put it in the water to test on Saturday around 5 pm so they shop was closed. I'm trying to get as much info as possible before calling first thing Monday morning.
  7. I have a 1960 Johnson 40 hp. Took it in to have the seals changed and was told it would require a lower unit as the seals have been bad for some time and there was alot of rust inside and other issues. They put in a used, lower unit. I took it out today and before the repair the boat would travel at 20mph. Now after the repair I can barely get 5 mph out of it. I'm no Einstein but I dont think this is supposed to happen. Does anyone have any ideas of what might be the issue? I would like to go somewhat educated when I try and get the issue resolved with the repair shop. Thanks in advance for any assistance.
  8. Thanks for the link to http://www.fiberglassics.com/, I will be sure to add it to my internet favorites.
  9. Here is an ad for this boat back from 1960.
  10. Good try Frank on the pronunciation but at least you get two beer. Here is a picture of my boat shortly after it was finished. (I hope I did this correctly)
  11. That 1965 MFG Westfield Custom is a nice looking boat. This makes me think all the harder about getting another old boat to work on.
  12. The boat's name is Old Cool and my name is Senez but I think my wife would agree that after being married to me for 16 years I am a torture device. :-)
  13. Hello all, Thanks for the opportunity to introduce myself. I'm the guy with an old boat (1960 Glastron Starflite) and the interesting (if not weird) name, Senez (if when we meet you pronounce it correctly, I'll buy you a beer, heck I'll buy you two for trying). I bought the boat from a friend for $200.00 (trailer and motor included). Took two years to restore it. After it was finished I was taking her out of the water when some guy comes by and asks, "Is this new cool or old cool?" not quite understanding what he meant I told him the year of the boat and he said "Oh, so its old cool" and that is how she got her name. Well I have only fished inland lakes but two weeks ago I took Old Cool out at Port Sheldon. Did not catch a fish but caught the fever of big water fishing. Thanks for the site, the great stories, pictures and the awsome info. See you on the water.
