  1. I used to run 2 divers per side every time out in my old 18' holiday. I had the low divers on braid, magnum size set on 1. Then the high divers used to be the regular size on 3 but on mono. The problem with this was tripping the mono when they were a ways behind the boat. Switched those to braid as well and had no more problems. I still am running the same 4 divers in my 22' Sabre now. I had the low divers on a 9.5' rod and the highs on a 10.5' rod in both boats. I really liked being able to easily get the whole set up outside of my corner downriggers. And the difference in length helped resetting one or the other after a fish hit.

  2. I am having troubles on my 22' crestliner Sabre with my humminbird dual beam transducer. I need a new transducer for my 788ci, and was wondering which one came recomended as the highest. I guess I am either currently looking at a new dual beam, a quad beam, or thinking about maybee switching to a through hull. Is there any experience out there with a through hull on an aluminum boat? Thanks for the help.

  3. I picked up a set of Zboards at the grand rapids show this winter. Like Jim said, they will out pull anything else I put out. I originally bought them to pull copper, but they pull so hard even with 300' of copper they were trying to pass my Walleye boards on the outside of them. So now I have these nice strong pulling boards pulling a 3 color and a 5 color on the other side. This will have to work untill I can get another set or two of them.

  4. Ran south down in front of the sand dunes. Went 3/4 for the morning. We got a late start, and didn't get lines set until after sun up. Picked up a lake trout on a mag mixed veggies 45' down in 70' FOW. Then rode for a while and picked up about a 8 lb King on a diver 125' back on 3 over 100' FOW double orange crush. Surface temp was around 44 degrees and it was a beautiful morning. Third fish was a steelie shaker on 3 color.

  5. personally I just moved it from the stern to the helm. I am spending more time watching it while driving for speed, than I am watching it while deploying the rigger. While at the stern, I spent the whole time telling the captain what to do. This way he can tell me when I am where I need to be for depth and leave it at that...

  6. So this weekend I went and took a look and compared the 597ci, the 387ci, and the 788ci. I really liked the look of the 788, and the 3 "hot buttons" really looked nice. Came home and found a great deal on a used one online. So the 788ci won. does anyone have any beggining setting suggestions for this new to me bird?

  7. Thanks for all of the reply's guy's... I think I will be purchasing something simialr in the near future, but am a little nervous on the screen size. Does anyone know of somewhere in the grand rapids area to look at this unit? I am afraig a 500 or 700 series might be necessary...

  8. when running a slider above a spinnie don't you end up with a big mess? I always ran double spoons when using sliders to avoid tangles. I can see ths working with a spoon stacked above a spin dr. If this dosen't cause tangles i might be interested in trying it. I was just afraid of the headache...

  9. I was wondering if anyone has taken a look at the new Hummingbird 385ci as an economical way to get into having a combo unit. To me everything looks good as specs go, but I am curious if anyone has allready given this unit a try. If not is there any other suggestions in this price range for a different company's combo unit?
