  1. We went north after the lightning and rain yesterday. The cloudy rainy conditions had us hopeful that the bite may still be happening. Had 60° surface temp and 48° down 60'. Started at the bath house in 160fow, moved just off the bank to 105', turned around at 05. Marked a few fish and bait balls but did not get hit once . Maybe our presentation could have been different. Reg sized spoons on riggers back 30 and 50 one down at break and one on bottom, meat on mag dipsies set on 3 with SDs and teasers back 130 and 175, spoons on boards with 150 and 250 copper, 300 CU down the chute. Sog 2.5-3.2 , N track then back S. 1mph S current. Zigged zagged W-E going S.

  10. I was invited to go on a charter out of Frankfort, Michigan with my brother and his iFishigan team. iFishigan is a TV show produced by my brother Danny Leonard. This season's shows will feature fishing in the Traverse City area and will broadcast on the World Fishing Network beginning in January 2015. The Frankfort "Big Water" episode is sure to be a good one. We were on board "Fish Tank" with captain Ryan Matuzak, first mate Wes Newberry, cameraman Will Waterman, and the president of Traverse City Tourism Brad Van Dommelen. A small craft advisory was in effect and as we headed out of the harbor just before sunrise. Waves coming over the south breakwall signaled a rough ride. We headed SW in to the wind and waves for 30 minutes and turned around to set lines. It was bumpy enough that you needed to have 3 point contact most of the time. She laid down a bit as Wes got the lines down. Ended up 13 for 17 (steelhead with a couple of shaker kings) on spoons in the top 35ft in 120-160fow. Back at the docks at noon. Had a blast. WFN broadcast times in January 2015 Saturdays @ 8:00 AM Saturdays @ 5:00 PM Thursdays @ 10:00 PM Thursdays @ 3:00 AM Fridays @ 1:00 PM Note: Eastern Time Zone
