  6. This past week was another great salmon adventure. I spent 3 days fishing with some great clients from Edmonton, Minnesota, and Toronto. The week started off with some really high winds from south east so nobody was able to get out for a fish. We finally managed to set our lines and starting trolling in pursue of the Great Ontario Salmon Derby winner. Here are a couple of pictures of a great Salmon we caught earlier in the week Anthony thinking “This salmon is almost as big as me†The Salmon are now staging all river mouths and are right in the shallow water. In the early morning the fish are right in tight to shore, then they seem to move out with the boat traffic and as the sun rises. There are many anglers starting to catch some great salmon of shore right now. The keys to our success this week was, using A-tom-mik Trolling Flies of dipsy divers and rigger lines for most of our fish. Cut bait, “Meat†with flashers was also a great choice for some of our bigger fish. Here are some more pictures of some great late season salmon Mike who mainly fishes Lake Michigan enjoying some good size Nice Male that took over 500 feet of line on one run, good job guys getting the fish in Some action from out in the “Blue Zone†Deep water Lots of rainbows and a ton of fun It was a great finish to a fantastic Salmon derby with some great fish being caught all week. Now it is time for some Musky and bass fishing with some casting for big salmon mixed in, then walleye later in the fall. Cheers Al www.alsadventures.ca
  7. Out of all the trips I have done this year, that one means the most to me. Marty took me out salmon fishing when I was 10 years old for my first time ever and it so nice to give back. He was so happy. Cheers Al
  8. This past week was another great salmon adventure. I spent the last few days of the week fishing Lake Ontario in preparation for the 2007 Tightline Salmon Shootout on Saturday at Bluffers Park. The fishing was pretty good all week, with good weather and lots of good mature fish to be found. I was fortunate enough this week to have my Step Grandfather, Marty come out one evening for some fishing. At 83 years old Marty was so happy to be out it brought back many decades of memories for him. Marty used to fish the lake lots from the early 60s to early 90s. We set our lines and it did not take long for Marty to get a taste of the salmon action again. Here is a picture of Marty with his first salmon on. A nice mature fish for Marty, “Look at that smile†We put two more nice mature kings in the boat and Marty was pretty worn out The key to our success was using Dipsy Divers and A-tom-mik flies. Friday I had to get out again and do some more pre fishing for the big day on Saturday. I ended up fishing on my own for a few hours and checking a bunch of locations. Here is a couple of nice matures that I boated on my own. A-tom-mik tournament series flies. #55 Purple Passion There is still three weeks left in the Great Ontario Salmon derby so if anyone wants to test there luck and try winning a boat come on out for a great day of fishing. Cheers Al www.alsadventures.ca
  9. Managed to get out today with my girlfriend Kathy today for some salmon fishing. We started off a little slow but the day picked up as we found some warmer water. The surface temps ranged from 47 to 54 depending on where we were fishing. Every rod in the program fired today with, the braided diver being the best of the bunch. Here a couple pics of the bigger kings we caught. One was close to 24lbs on my scale. All fish were released for another day. We ended up 14-18 today with a 4 rod spread, a couple of bows but mostly kings between 11-18lbs. Good luck to all anglers in week 2 Cheers Al www.alsadventures.ca
  10. I managed to get out fishing the last couple of days with client of mine from England for some Salmon fishing. Buzz had never caught a Salmon before and it was on his, “too catch listâ€. We spent two days down in St.Catherines, where there is some fine spring fishing right now. The Monday of the long weekend was Buzz’ first taste of Lake Ontario fishing. Here are a couple pictures of Buzz from day 1 Sunset Monday evening Day 2 was a great morning will less boats on the pond and a beautiful sunrise we thought the fish would be on. Sunrise Tuesday am Buzz fighting a fish Nice spring king Another nice silver king King coming in Another king for buzz The fishing was good we ended up 17 for 22 in less than 7hours and Buzz was loving every second of Lake Ontario Salmon fishing. We hit most fish on the riggers but the wire dipsys were also firing. All fish that we caught were released for another day. Release Shot Special thanks to John, at Tightlines fishing shop in Pickering for helping me get ready and Okuma, A-tom-mik flies and dreamweaver. Will be back at it again soon. Cheers Al www.alsadventures.ca
  11. The Scotty spring tournament this year was really tough fishing. The 49 boat field with by far some of the best anglers from Ontario, Quebec, New York, Michigan and others were on the big pond this weekend. It was my first Scotty event ever and I teamed up with two of best friends Adam and Shaun Harris. On Friday of the pre fish we boated 7 fish including Adams first lake trout ever, congratulations Adam. Day 1 of the derby was not bad for us we had 3 kings in the box by 9:30 and we thought we were in for a great day. Then the bite went right off for us. We finished 20th after day Day 1 Board Day 2 was another really tough day with lots of people with empty or 1, 2 fish boxes. Only a couple boats managed to catch there 5 fish. We were skunked and hit the road early so I don’t have the final results. A team from Quebec won the event with two good boxes both days. Team Als Adventures had a fun weekend with lots of jokes and laughs with the boys. I will see you all in Derby on Saturday. The Scotty is a great event and highly recommend it to anyone that wants to test there skills against some great anglers. Cheers Al
  12. Billy V that is awsome Brown fishing your buddies are having. I fished all day saturday looking for kings launched at Port Dalousie fished down the Niagara Bar and vey little happening. A few lakers and browns caught, and some kings slowly starting to show. Still pretty slow. How many rods are runnin to hit 40+ fish in one day. Cheers AL

A good friend of mine boated a 26.8lb spring chinook yesterday. The early season has been amazing so get your spools fulled and get ready for a great season. Great Site I really like it.
  15. Last years biggest fish was not a tournament record. It was a 33.54lber. You are thinking of a different year. I think this year there is a good chance at a new record however. I love the derby, it is awsome.
