I too had a bad eyelet that broke off on braid. as far as shock absorber on down rigger - go you add a soft start to the electric motor?

Kevin, So sorry to hear about your loss. that is just terrible. -
I run braid, 5 foot of 50# mono, then the copper. have not had a problem with the mono breaking off.
