  1. John ,Thanks for the comback on the radio i was in my driveway last night,And had just done some electrical work on the boat.Sounds like it was tuff out there,I hope to get out this weekend but wont be until either Sat. eve or Sun. eve. jimmy

You live close to the lake? You came in loud and clear on the lake. I wish I could hear fishing reports from my house, but I'm too far away.

  2. Fished out of Holland last night on a North troll 130 fow bucking some big waves (3-5') with North wind. Slow night as far as fishing goes:(. Caught one 8 pound king on an Area 51 with a 10-11 inch lamprey stuck to it's side. Sliced and diced the little sob:mad:. Had a couple releases, but they spit it out before we could get them in. Too rough to keep balance. Only heard one other boat on the radio (JimBobber) just as we started our turn to head back in.

  3. I ran tite-locks on my last boat, and had issues with the aluminum disc wearing causing the holders to become sloppy. That and having to turn the thumbwheel every time you wanted to make an adjustment is a PITA. Rigged my new boat with all Bert's tracking, and ratcheting rod holders and they perform great. I'm a Plastics Engineer by trade, but I wouldn't trust my gear to plastic rod holders. I like the ease of handling on the Berts too.

  4. Lines in at 7 pm. 65 down NP Bruiser gets big rip and gone while setting other rigger in 120'. Nothing until sundown then 2 small Kings 3-4#'s and 2 others lost. 2 55-60 down and 2 on stackers 35-40 down in 100-115'. Bruiser had 3 hits, DW green icicle 1. Nothing on other rigger, copper or half cores with diff. glows, ODC, Monkey puke, and first time in 7 trips that I didn't get a fish on NP Bubblegum.

A little somber fish as the coast guard and sheriff continually passed by and over us with heli', and boats looking for the drowned fisherman of yesterday.

Didn't hear about the accident. Anybody have details? Did they end up finding the guy? I wondered what was going on when I returned to the slip, and heard the Coasties broadcasting over another fisherman's radio to be on the lookout for something, but couldn't hear it all because someone fired up one of those loud "go-fast" boats at the DNR launch. Anybody know the guys name? That's too bad. Prayers go out to the family.

  5. Big boats, small boats, it doesn't matter. A few seconds of being careless, and stupid can ruin more than a fishing trip. I'ts been my experience that it's harder to see with a bigger boat then small boats mainly because the fog tends to mist up the windshield, and wipers can only do so much.

  6. The weather is looking good bought my annual permit boat is ready the shakedown will be this week in St Ignace, Chrome 1 will get wet. I still have not seen a boat out there yet. I have had some reports of Kings being caught in the Sault and Detour so I am going to give it a shot and see what I can do. I will keep you posted throughout the summer, today looks like a good day too but I am at work right now.

I'd love to get up North to fish in the St. Ignace area. That's one of my favorite spots to visit along with Traverse City. I bet going beneath the Big Mac is a sight to see.:thumb:

  7. I really like it. I recently added two Cannon Digi Troll IV HS downriggers that I picked up for a steal at Gander Mountain. Gander decided not to carry this model because it wasn't a hot seller due to the price ($1,400.00 each). They sold them to be brand new in the box below cost!:thumb: I want to put the boat in my slip, but the weather hasn't been cooperating.

  8. I just thought it would be more convenient to have a shore power plug installed on the boat rather then running the cord over the gunnel. Maybe not. I'm still a little concerned about galvanic corrosion primarily with my prop, and shaft so I'd like to find out if anybody has had any issues with this in freshwater, especially when slipped in a marina? I have an in-board engine with single screw, and there's no sacrificial anodes on the boat like an IO, or outboard. Maybe I'm worrying too much, but I don't have to tell you guys how expensive it it to maintain a boat so I want to cover all the bases. I've never slipped a boat before this year.

  9. I'm looking at installing shore power on my 28 foot Baha Cruiser, but I have a few questions that I'm hoping someone with greater electrical knowledge then I can help me on this. Is installing 30 Amp shore power as easy as installing the receptical, running 10 gage wire to a 110 Volt receptical? If not please let me know. What about glavanic corrosion isolators.:( Is this something I should install? Also, I just purchased a Guest battery charger/maintainer. I have dual batteries connected to a battery selector switch. How do you connect the charger to the batteries with this selector switch connected? Is there anything I have to be concerned about?

  10. Hello everyone, My name is Chris Klar. My handle and boat name is "Pioneer" and I fish out of Sturgeon Bay WI. I upgraded in 2008 from my crestliner to my Baha 277 GLE. I love to fish salmon and trout and spend 6 or 7 weeks a year with a huge group of friends chasing fish around. My life is simple, become and help others to become better fisherman, make some good memories and have a blast doing it. Love the site, it is going to take a couple of days to go through it because of all the great info. I will go to the picture guide to learn how to download and post boat pics asap. Thanks for the great site. Chris

What year is your Baha? I have a 277 GLE too. It's a '03 and I love it. You've got yours dressed up pretty nice. Is yours an in-board, or IO?

  11. What the he77 do you use to get the nonskid on the deck clean, thats a major PIA!

I had the same question so I went to the source. I called the manufacturer (Baha Cruiser) to see what they recommend, and they said they use Comet w/bleach. I bought a large can, and it's game on this Friday. Time to get the grit off. The top of the hard top is the biggest PITA for me because I can't reach the center very well, and I'm over 6' tall. I just bought some Woody Wax for the non-skid. This allows me to hose the blood off the deck w/o busting my @#% on a slippery surface. :thumb:

  12. Great another East Sider...Welcome to the site!

I hate to criticize you on your first post, but you went about the wife thing all wrong. You need to buy a motocross bike (YZ450F), spend tens of thousands of dollars on equipment, fees, parts and trailers, and then start riding MX tracks...Then after a broken collar bone, torn rotatory cuff, a few nights in the intensive care unit, 7 or 8 E.R. visits, 1 or 2 crushed disks in your back, a subdureal hemotoma, 3 or 4 broken ankles, 2 broken fingers, a broken wrist, a titanium plate and several pins and screws, and 5 or 6 months of physical rehab, crutches and pain killers.............. she will be begging you to buy a boat, and all the equipment/lures you want!

Trust me... and let me know if I can be of further assistance..:drinks:

Dang! That's messed up. How can you even operate a boat after going through all that?

  13. Well, I saw Mike at D and R this morning, you were busy, didn't get a chance to say hello. I got out the door with two new copper rigs and some other stuff. Haven't told my wife how much I spent yet......

But like the saying goes is easier to ask for forgiveness then permission.

  14. I hear ya. I drove out to the state park today in Holland and there's no shore ice, only on the pier. I can't wait to get out there.:( I want to work on the boat, but it's shrinkwrapped. Have some new toys to try out this year.:D

  15. Any of you guys familiar with the Cannon Digi-Trol IV HS downrigger? I recently purchased a couple (got a really good deal on them), but haven't heard much about them. I know one reason is the price . I wouldn't have bought them if I didn't get such a deal on them. Also, any of you guys have experience with the Moor Subtroll 900? Bought one of those too, but I'm looking at modifying the little coil spring with something more robust. Saw a pretty good idea on-line on how to do it.:thumb:
