  1. there really is not much fishing pressure this time of year. mid day fishing should be good.

if you are fishing deep, open water, pre-dawn isn't necessarily as important as it is near shore fishing during the summer. if you are fishing the shore/harbor, those fish don't have a natural feeding pattern like they do during the summer.

besides it can be awfully chilly before the sun comes up!

  2. I had these shirts made from a company here in Racine. They do digital inking (? not sure what its really called) instead of silk screening which allows for unlimited colors and designs and no set up fees. It also allows them to run single shirts instead of minimum quantities. They usually sell for $14 for single shirts and better prices for more quantity.

  3. Fished 10am to 4pm out deep with a couple good friends. Finished 12-14 with a bunch of nice rainbows and cohos, one smaller king and threw back a smaller lake trout.

fished between 270 and 330 fow. Fish were scattered throughout the whole range. Seemed like more of the cohos were on the deeper side of the troll. Action was not super hot, but was pretty steady. Attention spans for fishing dwindled some while the packer game was on though. 5 and 7 colors, 300 foot coppers, dipsys 225 and 69, downriggers between 25 and 150 feet. Super slims (hot michigan dolphin, bloody death 2, un-named blue and purple NBK style), stinger sized NBK, green dot spin doctor/green crinkle, UV dreamcatcher spin doctor/blue fairways.

i love deep water fishing! if anyone gets a chance and the water is as nice as it was over the weekend, go get some! fishing doesn't have to be over yet, don't be a quitter yet!

  4. A fun day of fish hunting aboard another charter boat, the Margret V, on tuesday. Fished from 10am to 3pm and ended up 5 for 7.

started inside the hills and marked a ton of bait on the bottom across all three hills and out to 160ish fow. Not really any fish with the bait and no hits. Pulled lines to relocate and had a small brown on a 7 color.

Powered out to 265 fow and started marking a lot of fish. Trolled out past 300 fow and turned back. Ended up going 4 for 6 in just over an hour with three lake trout and a rainbow. Blue/chrome spindoctor and green fly 313 feet out on a wire dipsy, White flasher and aqua fly 151 downrigger and 300 coppers, and superslim hot michigan dolphin on a 7 color.

  5. fished from 10am-1pm. another solo scavenger hunt. ended 2 for 3.

it was actually a lot rougher on the water then i expected. one pass in front of the harbor, real nice color line about 1/4 mile offshore. first fish 25 fow on the edge of the color line next to the green can. headed out to the reef marker on the north side. another fish 35-40 fow between the reef and the harbor. Marked a lot of bait just outside the reef marker in 50-55 fow but no action. Headed back towards the harbor and missed another fish in the same spot as the first on, next to "blinking Louie." All three fish came on a three color with a Dreamweaver Stairway to Heaven plug. Tried lots of different spoons, plugs and a few fly combos on my other two rods with no success.

  6. i've always used the food saver. works good but occasionally pull a bag out of the freezer to find it was not vacuumed or sealed properly. I think the moisture may be an issue at times. i would love to try one of the commercial units.

  7. took all my friends fishing today...me, myself, and i! more of a fish hunting expedition. fished from 10am-1pm. ended another spectacular day 1 for 2.

shallow water was cold, but really really murky. Started in 50 fow and didn't find clean water until just short of the hills. Did not mark much, but the water was cold everywhere. First fish came in 120 fow over the edge of the last hill. One more hit ~140 fow. trolled out just past 200 fow with no more action and came home. nice relaxing day on a flat calm day. maybe if my crew was more enthusiastic about changing baits and what not, i may have caught a few more.

nice big coho came on a captain valium spin doctor with aqua fly, 154 on a dipsy. other hit came on a dreamcatcher paddle w/ uv tarheel fly, 38 downrigger.

  8. I had the pleasure of meeting and fishing with Jeff Miller from Traxstech last week. Between the outstanding customer service i have received prior to meeting Jeff and getting to know him a little bit, i believe stating Traxstech will not honor the original Vector warranty may be somewhat false. They may not just up and give you a brand new downrigger or rodholder but i'm sure they will do anything they can resolve any issues you may have. From personal experience, I believe Traxstech takes great pride in ensuring their customers are happy with any products associated with their name, including pre-Traxstech Vector products.

  9. do you have a preference of vintage? the pre-1992 models had a different hull than the post 1992, amongst many other changes. I would definitely second the crusaders.

i spend all winter/spring researching and visiting many different 29 an 31 tiaras. If there are any questions i can help you with let me know. I also have a lot of mental and physical notes of the Tiaras i looked at, many still for sale. 6-9 months and still for sale may help :)
