  2. Hello!

I just bought some bigger reels that I plan use for copper.

Since it looks like I am the first fisherman ever to troll with copperline I need some advice.

My reels are two Tekota 800 and one Tekota 700, I am planning on running two reels on inline planerboards and one of the copperlines straight behind the boat.

Where do I buy copper? what kind of copper line(brands) do you guys recomend?

I am thinking of using 50lb power pro as backing.

Which length should I use on the copper? We are fishing atleast down to 100´deep.

Why don´t just some of you come to Sweden to show me how you do this?

back to copper, I need to know everything, what to do, and what NOT to do lol.

    Thanks in advance.

    /Kjell

Btw, I have searched and read all copper post but things are changing as times go by, so I guess you guys got some new trix.

  3. My absolute favourite salmon reels is Daiwa SG47LC, At the moment I have 22 of these reels, four Great lakes 47LC. two Daiwa AD47LC, three Shimano Tekota 600LC, three Shimano Tekota 800 and one Shimano Tekota 700.

I have tried Okuma several different models and experienced loads of probs.

I also used ABU Ambassadeur for a few seasons, lots of probs with the clicker stopped working, and even when working the sound was too low.

Tried some Shimanos think it was Triton and experiensed probs with the level wind function on several reels.

The SG47LC´s is the only reels Ive been unable to kill lol.

  4. My Chart plotter didn't not come with the sonar boiult in, I have to buy the Airmar element and DCS 300 box and hook it up myself.. no sweat just another 1000.00, just s the word BOAT stand for.....( Bring On Another Thousand)

Lool thats the way it is.

And as soon as you think you have everything you´ll need, then something stops working.

tis an endless way of getting rid of money.

  5. I have never had a probe and the only use I see for it is to see underwater current so I know which "speed" my spoons are running at down there.

The thermocline is very visuable on the bigger sonars, I run a Lowrance LCX112C with dual freq swinger as sonar and a Lowrance Globalmap8200c as chartplotter. Both Suzuki engines data is being shown on the Lowrance units by a EP-20 engine interface.

By some reason everyone here is running Lowrance.

Some on-topic and some off-topic, sorry for the off-topic parts lol.

  6. What are the better line counters used and what length rods do you use for the downriggers and the planer boards or dipsey divers

    Hi!

My faves when it comes to line counters are Shimano Tekota, i have four of these on my boat. I do also use the Daiwa Sg47lc linecounters 13 of these on my boat.

I use 8,6` Daiwa interflow for the downriggers, and Shakespeare 10,6´DD rods for the dipsies. My planerboard rods are Shakespeare Ugly Stik gold tiger 7´, I use 17 of these ones.

  7. I have to say that I am REAL lucky in this department.. IE: Question to wife.. Honey, do you have a problem with me picking up a couple of copper set ups? We do not have these in our arsenal, and they are a very productive tool..

Answer.. If you have the money for them, go for it. Do you need a few bucks?

My wife supports our addiction as much as I do.. I am a VERY LUCKY man!!

GOD.....I HOPE SHE READS THIS!!!! :)

    Does she have a sister?

  8. Ya know Robert, sometimes ya just got to lay down the law;);):D

If my wife had any idea how much I have into fishing equipment, she would shoot me.

    Good luck with your endeavor.

Hehe same here Nailer, and at the mo I got so much fishing gear so she doesnt even notice that i have ten new reels and 14 new rods LOOL.

On the other hand, she said she wants a new kitchen and a new bathroom I think thats pretty fair.

  9. Hello and good morning Fellow fishermen!

I thought it was about time to show you one of the Swedish secret weapon when it comes to spreading the baits by over 140 yards in width.

By using a planer board named TL Power Planer we are able to get our boards as far as 60-80 meter away from the boat (on each side).

These planer boards create a h***uva drag, close to 30lbs drag on the planer line.

Theres no problem fishing 16 rods on the boards.

    Here it is...

    Are you ready???

These boards are 2 feet long and 16 inches wide, they are weighed by 3kg lead (one 6kg downrigger ball split in two).

The lead is to prevent the boards to lift when fishing in crappy weather.

The boards are "Copies" of otter boards, who again is copy of an very very old Swedish planer board named "Mariestad pulkan".

The TL Power Planer is filled with floating foam, and has a hard moulded outer shell.
