  1. I also thought it was one more thing to have to mess with, but after a buddy brought a meat rig last year, showed me how to rig and run it, and landed the biggest king to date for my boat (24#). I'm now running it on 1-2 rods of the spread.

The fish I've caught are definitely larger on this.

I run the BW meat rig with herring strips...unused strips can be refrozen and used again.

    Definitely worth the effort:cool:

  2. Fished on a beautiful Sunday night leaving the dock around 6:00, returning about 10:00. Set up in 150 fow, fished out to 180' and pulled lines in 125.

Ended up 5/7 losing an angry Steelhead about 375' behind the boat after jumping and spitting the hook, also lost a nice sized king after he tangled us.

7# Steelhead Silver Streak MJ spoon 250 cu

    (2) 8# Kings Mixed Veggie UV spoon full core, also lost the Steelie on this

16# King BW meat rig wire diver 150 back, also lost the a King

7# King 300 cu MS blue flounder pounder

Not a bump on the down riggers, sea fleas were minimal.

Water temp 48 out in 160 fow 45 down.

  3. Left North Shore Marina a little before 6 pm on a beautiful night on the lake ended 3/4, 2 Steelhead, 1 king, and one king lost right at the back of the boat:mad:

    Mixed Veggie took both Steelies 40 & 50 down in 165 & 180 fow both were 9#'s

Meat on a wire diver took the 7# king 135 back at sunset on a wire diver in 140 fow, also lost a king on this

Calm, clear night and no flies :thumb:\

  4. Slow night for us...2/2 - one was a small Steelie throw back

    Flies were biting though!

    Here's what "worked":

Mixed Veggie 40 down rigger 120 fow 6 lb Steelie

Orange MS spoon braid diver 85 back 115 fow set free to grow up!

Worked 80'-140' north of the pier..didn't mark many fish.

A few boats out, radio silence.

Water was 60 degrees on top, had to search for 55 degree water down deeper.

Hope to change things next week :thumb:

  5. I had a 02 Sea Pro 210WA with an I/o. Decent boat for a couple guys. I now own a 03 0 HS w/

A ox 200 2-stroke. Solid ride and a lot of cockpit space for a cc. The closed transom with outboard bracket adds a lot to performance and room. PM me if you have any questions on either!

  6. i just saw an ad on craigslist (Grand Rapids) - BOAT section....

looking for a first mate out of Muskegon:We are currently looking for a few part time first mates for our charter boats in Muskegon for this summer. If you love to fish and be on the water why not get paid to do it. Contact us today. Must be dependable and able to pass a Drug test.

    Tight Lines!

    Hope this helps!

  7. Reverse pattern is more to catch the fisherman more than the fish.

Think about it........how many live baitfish do you see out there with a reverse pattern?

True. I always thought the same about bass top water plugs...they're all painted fancy on the top (that sits out of the water) but the bottoms are left white (what the fish see)!

  8. Never jigged for salmon before but a buddy wanted to do something different so we jigged the mouth of Muskegon lake with everyone else that owned a boat :eek:Fished 7:00 am til 10. Boated a nice 10# silver ho along with a 15# and 22# king! Lost another 4. Heard the boats trolling just inside/tight to the pier heads did real well early. Charter at the cleaning station had a 30# king--what a pig!:thumb: lots of fish caught today
