Great trip, plus you got to sleep in !

Nice rig Kevin! I think I've seen it in GH.
What size kicker is do you have? I've got the same Yamaha 200 ~ great engine, but also considered adding a kicker 4-stroke to my 23' CC Hydra Sports.

Was able to make it out of Grand Haven a couple times this weekend without having to fish the bumpy seas on Saturday morning.
7/24pm
Had a late crew and we got stuck in rush hour traffic on our way out to GH so got a bit latter start. Crew consisted of my roommates, a good fishing buddy, and his close friend for his first time on the big lake. Had lines down around 7pm or so and fish until 11:30pm. Finished 4/5 with 3 lake trout, a 10-12lb king, and a nice trash bag (thought that one was a lake trout for a while). The lake trout came in 115-125 FOW and the king hit on the way into the pier heads in 82 FOW at 11pm. Here's what worked:
200cu - Chartruese custom DW Captain's Choice plug - laker
High Slide Diver out 130ft - BW Spotted Dick meat rig - laker
75cu with 2oz dive bomb - some spoon - 5ft long plastic bag
Low Diver out 100ft - Green Splatter Back Ace High - lost king
100cu with 2oz Dive Bomb - MS Happee Meal Mag - king
We had just been joking about how Lakers often fight like a plastic bag then we ironically had a planer board drag back....
Beautiful night on the water...
7/26am
Just my dad and I headed out on Sunday morning and were greeted with a flat lake and another great lake Michigan sunrise...
Felt weird running only a 6 rod spread after having graduated up to 12 rods lately with the bigger boat, but we were still able to have a good morning. Had lines down at 6am in 85 FOW on a NW troll and headed out to 140 FOW. Stayed in the 120-150 range the rest of the morning pulling lines at 11am. Finished 4/5 with a 15lb king, 2lb king, shaker king, and about a 6lb steelhead. There were some nice slicks out in the 140-150 range, north and south trolls were best. Here's what worked:
200cu - MS Happee Meal mag - king
High Slide Diver out 150ft - Pearly/blue Spinnie and Blue bubble fly - lost king
100cu - Stinger Shanster - 2lb king
Downrigger at 50ft - Stinger Stingray UV Green Dolphin - shaker king
Downrigger at 70ft - Mtn. Dew Spinnie with UV fly - steelhead
Great report and pic's! Healthy looking fish
What boat do you fish from? I fish out of GH too, looks similar to mine?

0 for 2, 80-110 fow, 1st was a SteelHead, jumped high in the air and slipped my caramel spoon mag size on my 8 color adjustable lead core, full out this time as I pulled him in, south troll, 2.4 sog. 2nd was a king, broke my green uv meat rig just above the top skirt, at least I still got my sd. Sw troll, 2.4 sog off rigger down 65, bk 60. I think I should have let him run longer to wear him out. It seemed too much pressure on the meat rig line. I have had several break on me lately. I'm very disappointed in their quality since they seemed to have changed their tying process. I have used all brands. I have had them break in all areas up and down the rig in the skirt areas and when they tie them to their swivels if one is part of the setup. Very crowded at the launch ramp. Good thing the "Littleboat" was able to maneuver thru the mess. Great night otherwise.
What meat rigs are you using? I've never (knock on wood) had a BW break on me .

Fished 6:30 - 9:30ish...covered 100'-140; fow.
Ended up 4/4..
SS Steely Dan on 5-color -- 2-small kings 135' fow
Meat Rig Dipsey Blue DW Flasher set at 1 - 100'back, dragged a 5# Laker in
Meat Rig Dipsey Green DW Flasher 1- 11# King set at 1 112' back at sunset 125 fow

Pays to have a good crew!
Well done!!

Fished the mud, marking a good number of fish and bait. North wind made it a bit bumpy and cold (is this really July?).
Best water was 30'-40'..finished 3/5.
Here's what worked:
5-Color - 5# Steelhead & 15 # King -SS Steely Dan
Downrigger 20 down 35 fow Mother of Pearl J-Plug
2-Color - 2 rips within a couple minutes near sunset, bright green older Lyman plug ~line snapped with the king flopping on top about 20' behind the boat ~ looked to be in the 12-15# range
All landed fish came on a South troll, the 2 misses north troll
Nice to finally get a few

Thanks for the report!
I was going to head out tonight, but couldn't find a crew 2- fish is a lot better than the black with white stripe "kitty":D
-
Nice catch! Hopefully things are improving ~ one of the best reports I've seen in awhile

Fished from 6-9:30 We went out to and set up deeper in 190 and got two within 30 minutes. 53 down on purple pooter meat rig then 61 down on a really bright yellow chartreuse spoon with red dots mostly NE troll was current then headed in and se was current and had a rip in 163 fow 130 back setting 2 on chartreuse spin doctor meat rig. And in 150 ish rigger 55 down lost on spotted dick. Before dark was in about 95 fow and got one on 128 back setting 3 chartreuse dream weaver then rigger 90 fow uv blue dolphin 45 down. NO ONE was catching anything we just got lucky didn't mark anything so today may be a good day but caught fish in 188 fow 161 fow 150 fow and 90 so there scattered ended up 4/6
Well done! I was out of GH, and managed one shaker Steelhead on a Steely Dan spoon out 120 fow on 5-color..looks like I should've gone out further!
-
Went out for a short evening trip from 6-9. Went 8-11 both kings hit braid divers with meat. And all the trout hit trash on bottom.
Glad to hear a good GH report!
What depths, etc..were you in?
Hoping to get out tomorrow night!

Very nice:thumb: Great to see those silver fish !
-
I did fish just inside Muskegon lake where the channel meets the lake on Friday morning and we got 4 salmon while jigging. Saw lots of boats trolling the channel and just outside but not sure how they did.
-
Who said there's no honest fishermen?
I had a 0/0 trip a couple of weeks ago...can't remember the last time that happened!!
-
I feel your pain! I also went 1 for 1 on a meat rig (13# king), wire diver back 156 in 145 fow out of Grand Haven.
Marked a decent amount, enjoyed watching them come up to the riggers but not taking my offering!
I did mark a bunch of fish about 30' down in 110 fow after sunset ~ but all had lockjaw!
-
Set lines a little after 6:00 p.m. in 85 fow on a SW troll.
Ended a disappointing 2/2
Both came on BW blue meat rig.
1- Came "around" 100' back in 110 fow as I was letting it creep out..nice 13# king ~ had high hopes for the evening as it was the 3rd rod I was putting out
1- same rig 140 back around 8:30.-- 8# king
didn't mark many fish, think I should've started north of the pier a ways and trolled with the waves...rougher than I thought it was
fished 85'-150'
-
Thanks for the report! I'm hoping to get out tomorrow out of GH too!
Tried Tues night, got out there, and too rough for the crew
Report was for 1' or less ~ they must've meant in the channel!
Good luck!
-
Thanks for the report!
What was the 'best' depth?
-
It's been real foggy almost every day! It finally cleared up late yesterday afternoon.
Can't see the water from the GH www.surfgrandhaven.com cam currently!
Argh!!

Went out Wednesday night w/my dad, son and his girlfriend, looking forward to a nice night with forecasted "less than 1' waves" only to be greeted by 3'+ with more than a few 4+' rollers thrown in
Fishing was tough too, managed only a king on a Hot Lobster meat rig down 80' (rigger) in 95 fow' at sunset.. 13lbs
Looking for redemption Thursday night with a buddy, went 3/3:
Shaker Coho 50 down on rigger, carmel dolphin SS in 120' fow ~ released to grow up.
King 10# Meat Rig w/blue bubble spin dr. 130 back on wire diver 95' fow
King 14# Meat Rig Hot Lobster w/white e-chip flasher down 60'(rigger) in 90' fow
Started in 130' moved into 90' fow around 8:00 p.m....many more marks in the 90-100 range for us than deeper.
