  1. My fishing partner was a no show this AM, Talked to the Bald Eagle at 1:30 they got 2 fish in 100FOW, 1 on full core and 1 down 65 on the riggers both on spoons and both befor the sun was very high. There are perch being taken in 25 FOW down south off of the dunes. But u have to search to find them then stay on the school. Think will try to find a partner for Saturday AM perch trip.

  2. I fish out of a MirroCraft 15' aluminum and on calm days I go out with the big boys, but for early spring coho and browns, and fall combat fishing it is a great boat. It works well on the river for steelhead and also for walleye anywhere. I have 2 Penn Long arm downriggers on the boat and a total of 8 rod holders can fish 2 riggers 4 to 6 planerboards with leadcore or copper and 2 dipsy rods. It is a 2 man rig only but we catch fish. Will post pics of the boat in the Gallery. As a note I use a GPS for trolling speed, I have a handheld Marine radio and a good quality LCD Graph. The Boat is a console steer and has a 30hp Johnson motor. I can run out to 100' troll for 6 hours and only use about 5 gallons of gas.

  3. Will be fishing out of S.Haven Friday AM hope to have some info for everyone for the weekend by mid day. My radio is on Channel 10 most of the time so give the Supertramp a bump and we can try to find the fish. Will be switching to perch about noon. By all reports from my buddy at Riverbend boat club all the action is south in 100 to 180 FOW top 50 feet 5 color 2 color and 35 to 45 down on the riggers with free sliders taking a lot of hits.

Good luck to all 2 UnReal if u are out give me a call cell 929 4221 or channel 10 on the radio.

  4. My friend Mike Corder took me to a family farm and we fished for bluegills, caught 48 average about 10" best bluegill fishing I have ever had they are bedding and the males were super aggressive used a piece of crawler on a plain red hook no weight behind a torpedo bobber and between 7:30 and 10:30 we had a ball. We didn't sort much, but threw back about 10 females that were in the 6 to 7 inch range. Once again couldn't figure out how to post the pics here but there are in the Non Salmon trout gallery. Check it out.

  5. Cleared the pierheads at about 7:45 AM took a 300 degree bearing and ran to 90, started to set lines the first rigger set @ 35 was set turned to set the next and had a nice king about 14# on came on a lemon Ice stinger, got the rest of the down riggers set and the other rigger set @ 40' went another nice 12# king, carmel dolphin. Finally got all four dn riggers set and were putting out a 5 color lead core and the next fish came on rigger set at 45' smaller king around 10# on green dolphin. Got the rest of the lines set, 300' copper on a board had a Monkey Puke silver and carmel on that one, 4 color with a pearl glow stinger mag, full core with NBK. Got a little slow until free slider on rigger set 45' went off, fish came unbuttoned befor we got it to the boat. Then the free slider blue dolphin on rigger set 65 went, lake trout on lemon ice regular stinger. Big king hit 5 color and broke off the 5 core at the backing, then the 4 color went, 5# steelhead on the pearl glow stinger mag, boated that one and got back on the program and hit another steelhead on the same rig. (both steelhead were natural reproduction fish had all thier fins in tact) Finished up the day with a small king on the 300' copper monkey Puke, and followed up with a 19.3# King on the 4 color with the pearl glow stinger. Lost 4 fish 2 on freesliders and 2 on the full core. 8 for 12 on a day that ended at 12:30 P.S Pics are in the gallery section but I am a computer dummy like most old guys and haven't figured it out yet.

  6. I caught my first Salmon when I was about 12 years old, my first steelhead when I was 5, that was 1951, I grew up in the great state of Washington and we had great Salmon and steelhead fishing back then. Started fishing lake Michigan in about 1974 and fished a lot until about 1985 then took a hiatus until 1995 and got slowly back into it.

  7. Let me know how that works for you. As a caveat I used to use the Walker releases, but like with all other hard fast releases too many shakers u never see bounce the bait. I went to rubberbands in about 1980. You will see the rod dance befor even a smaller fish breaks it loose. The one drawback is you will sometimes get a piece of rubberband stuck in the loops and it will stay there onto the reel. Just run your fingers down the line and usually it will come right out.

  8. All u need to do is loop the main line twice around 2 fingers pass 1 end of the rubber band thru the 2 loops then back thru the other end of the rubber band it wont slip and be sure to use #16 bands. u can get them at any office supply store. If the 1 band isn't enough double them I do this when we are running big plugs or large flashers. I strongly reccomend the Big Jon Band buster as a terminal rig on your down rigger cable It is the easiest to use and is not very expensive.

P.S. I load the heck out of the rods and have no problems with breaking the bands prematurely. A small coho will break them and u never miss seeing the rod bounce when a shaker is on.

    Good luck

  9. Guys the fish cleaning station at Black River Park is being left open all night if u come in late u can still clean your catch just be sure to bring a light. The attendant said they will leave it open until people stop taking care of thier mess. SO CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF AND HAVE A GREAT TIME.

  10. Cleared the Piers at about 5:30, ran out to 85 FOW set lines trolled NW out to 130 marked a lot of fish from the bottom up to 40', had 2 downriggers set at 80 and 60, both with free sliders. First fish came in 130 on Gold monkey Puke magnum on the deep rigger, the next was a Laker on power Pro Dipsey with small ring set on 3 out 90 ft Carmel dolhin Magnum nice laker we let go with out bringing him in the boat as we were releasing that one full core with Lemon Ice Magnum Nice big King over 15lbs. turned to a south troll in 145 FOW and Action was steady on the full core and the riggers free Slider. Ended up 5 for 7 Kept 3 Kings and a nice Coho. All fish were on either Lemon Ice mag, Carmel Dolphin or Blue dolphin. Sorry can't post pics but am blocked from posting attachments.
