How about Red Tide, Red Baron, Red Rover, Red Herring, or Triple Lundy.

I run mine on my outside riggers. Had the same problem Jim was talking about. When I ran them inside, but nothing since I moved them ouside. Make sure you bend the fins.

Replace the tip. Worth the time and effort.

Ken, I use my auto insurance company. The biggest cost for me is that it is stored out of state and it is run in the great lakes. Both of those things add to the cost, minimal charges, but it still adds up. I haven't heard anything regarding Boat US insurance.

I use 30# Fireline on mine and I know several who use the 50# Power Pro. I think it's personal preference.

I use 45# copper. Depending on conditions 300 ft of copper will get you 60-80ft down. You can run 450, 600, 150, 200 or any other length, but I don't have any depths on those lengths.

Where do you fish Chris? On the MI side, I have had really good luck with a 4,7, and 10 colors. Of course if you chose two of those you need to start with 2 core instead of one.

I think the 600 is too small for 8 colors- not enough backing. Check out GLF's post with backing estimator. I just put line on a reel and it was within a few yards of the estimate.

What kind of video cameras are you guys using? Are they mounted to the boat or handheld? Do you run them all the time or turn it on once fish is on?

Pre rigged core usually comes with around 300 ft backing, 100 yds #27 leadcore and 20-50ft of leader. Mason calls their's redicore I believe. For the other lengths just purchase regular leadcore line (not pre rigged) and spool the backing then the number of colors you want then tie on you leader. Many sporting goods store have the core Cabelas, Gander Mtn, Dick's Sporting Goods. You can find it online as well. Many different shops carry it. Most of us use #27. It also comes in 18 and 36.

As far as mono goes, if it sets in the sun it will deteriorate faster than some that has been in a "cool dry place". What pound test is it? I run #20 for most of my riggers, but use #30 Fireline for my backing on my lead lines.

I forgot to mention maybe adding a dipsy diver or two to the mix as well. I ran wire and fireline dipsies for the first time last year with decent success.
