Cleared the peirheads at 0630 and set lines in 55 fow just north of peirheads. Trolled west and picked-up first fish in 73 fow. Came on dipsey set on 2 100 back green ladderback j-plug. While bringing that fish, had another dipsey rod fire, same setting 80 back with crome j-plug. Two nice 10lb kings. Decided to troll south staying in that depth. A few minutes later the full core with white flsher/fly took a fish. Took another in short order on rigger 55 down green j-plug. While fighting that fish the other rigger fired 45 down moonshine flounder pounder. 5/5 in 35 minutes. Then things went south. Two of my buddies brought their girlfriends and they started getting sick, tried talking them into toughing it out and we were on some fish. But the complaining just increased. So we pulled lines and headed in. Sad to say but I was a little disapointed. But I alsoo know what its like to be sick for the first time on the big pond.

St. Joe 9/2/08" Fished lastnight from 6pm-10:30. Started alittle north of pier in 55 fow. Trolled west to 70 fow then went on a south troll. Fisrt fish in 70 fow on half core with crome j-plug. second a few minutes later again on half core green ladderback j-plug. both these fish about 7-8 lbs. Last fish came on a dipsey with white fischcatcher w/ white g-fly 100 back on 2. This was in 63 fow on a east troll. A little better fish guesing 12-15 lbs. Trolled all way the into the pierhead, nothing. 3/3 for the night.

S. Haven 8/26/07" Opted to give S. Haven A try last night. Fished from 6pm till 10pm. We went 2/4. One coho and a king. Started in 55ft and trolled west and picked up first fish in 94 fow. Green fishcatcher w/ pickled sunshine. The leader broke about six feet from net. This was on dipsey set at 2 100 back. Trolled back thru the same area picked up a coho on half core with blue dolphin. Went on a north troll in 90-95fow, lost another nice king on a dipsey same set-up as above. Getting dark so switched everything to moonshines and pick-up last king on mongolin beef off a half-core. On a side note. I have lost a few nice kings lately off dipseys when the 20lb floracarbon leader broke. So I am thinking I am going to start running 30lb for leaders. I thought the 20lb would be alright as I am running snubbers between dipsey and flasher/fly.

Took the wife out this morning for her birthday. Had a two person limit of kings in no time. Hot baits were moonshine Blue flounder.Mongolin Beef, Boody nose. Also fishcather and fly on dipsies. Was in the 70-80 fow range The only downside is when we got back to the ramp and discovered that some crackhead broke into my truck. Use a large rock and took out the window. Nothing taken but sure did make a mess looking. Think I might be done with St Joe and finish the season out of S Haven. Too many crackheads hanging out in Benton Harbor. Clair

The wife and I fished out of St. Joe last night. Went 3-6. First fish came on rigger with blue dolphin 43 down. The rest came off full core with mixed veggie. We fished in 70 fow. Great night to be on the water.
