  2. The wife and I are planning a trip up the weekend of 19th of Sept. Will be staying at insta-launch.

Have not been there in a few years. Can some of you that are familar with the area kind of give me a idea of where to start. Was just wondering if the king's will still be out on the big pond or manistee lake. Any help will would be great.

Well not much of a report went 3/3 this A.M. Set lines at 6:00 am in 60 fow found a little temp break around 65-68 fow of water just south of piers. All kings 8-10lbs. Rigger set at 45 with S/D and blue bubble fly. Then dipsey 100 back on 2 with mag lemon ice and last fish on 1/2 core with mag mix veggies.

Had a greenhorn on the boat this morning and he was blowing chunks by 7 am. So I felt sorry for him and pulled lines and hit the docks by 7:30 am

On a side note my kids got me a new forschner knife for my birthday. All I can say is I dont why I never spent the money sooner. What a difference a great knife can be.

  4. After working all weekend, finally had a day off. The wife, stepson, and I fished from 5-8 lastnight. We set-up in 85ft on a SW troll. Went 4-5 . Three kings and a laker. Two of the kings were 13# and 15# the other 8#. We trolled out to around 95 fow and turned around and made a pass back through, nothing. Maybe should have stayed on the SW troll.

All the fish came on 300 copper, full core and halfcore and 150 copper pulling spoons. Nothing on riggers or dipsies. Mag blue dophlin, flounder pounder, steelie stompers on the short lines.

  5. Fished this morning. Started in 110 worked our way out to 230 fow. Went 14 for 18. Mostly kings and coho. Did manage 2 lakers and a steelhead. Caught fish on riggers,dipsys,300 copper,150 copper, full core and eight color. However the copper boated most of the fish. Blue dolphin, modified blue dolphin did most of the damage. Also caught fish on NBK and white spin doctors with blue bubble fly. All and all not a bad day to be on the water.

  6. Spent all day yesterday getting the boat cleaned and waxed, got all the electronics, rod holders and riggers back on. Repacked wheel bearings on the trialer, replaced a couple of rear seals. Tires were starting to look shabby so while I had them off went to Belle tire and got 4 news ones.

Just waiting for Friday going to do a little pre fishing before the brown blast.

Oh, Didnt fire the motor yet going to wait until about wednesday. Hopefully the temps wont dip that much.

  7. Wondering if I could get some info from the guys that fish Muskegon. Fishing was real slow down in St. Joe this weekend and the wave forecast doesn't look to promising the next couple of days. I got a few more days off from work and would like to get some fishing in before calling it for the year. So thinking about making the drive from Kalamazoo to Muskegon. I need info about where to launch and if the big pond is a little too rough, where do you guys troll in Muskegon lake. Any input would be great. Thanks.

  8. Cleared the peirheads at 0630 and set lines in 55 fow just north of peirheads. Trolled west and picked-up first fish in 73 fow. Came on dipsey set on 2 100 back green ladderback j-plug. While bringing that fish, had another dipsey rod fire, same setting 80 back with crome j-plug. Two nice 10lb kings. Decided to troll south staying in that depth. A few minutes later the full core with white flsher/fly took a fish. Took another in short order on rigger 55 down green j-plug. While fighting that fish the other rigger fired 45 down moonshine flounder pounder.

    5/5 in 35 minutes.

Then things went south. Two of my buddies brought their girlfriends and they started getting sick, tried talking them into toughing it out and we were on some fish. But the complaining just increased. So we pulled lines and headed in. Sad to say but I was a little disapointed. But I alsoo know what its like to be sick for the first time on the big pond.
