  1. Ya can't go wrong with the real thing. Crawler harnesses with Bottom Bouncers, In-line weights, or snap weights. In that order. Colors: Chartreuse, Purple, Glows, Orange, Pink. These are a few of my favorite things. Spoons and cranks will work also. I tie my own rigs. I was just messing with some before logging on.:) Early river fishing jigs with crawlers or minnows or even grub tails. When you get over there start yacking with some of the locals. They may be looking for a fishing pal or may share some of their knowledge. Spend a buck or two in the local bait shops and ask questions.:)

  2. Get you Captains License and pursue your education. Captains need a break also and with your growing, glowing reputation you could fill in for some of them now and then and first mate when captains gigs were not available. The way I see it the Captains License is just a part of your overall education. You are a young man. Put as much between your ears as you can.:)

  3. 65lb is way plenty. First run some mono backer on the reel like 300 yards then top it off with the braid 150 yards' date=' depending on line capacity. Now you can get two dipsy rods out of one 300 yard pack of braid and the mono backer keeps the braid from slipping on the spool. I use the green colored spider braid. Not really sure if there is one color better that the other. Thats how I set mine up.[/quote']

Ditto. You will never let out more than 150 yards of braid anyway. Mono is a fraction of the cost of braid.

  4. thanks frank just wanted to say i really enjoy all of your fishing reports you must know the bay like the back of your hand thank again

Thanks Chad. I didn't fish as much as normal last year because of a shoulder injury. Going to try and make up for some lost time this year.:) I just love to be out there and learn a lot from the many good people I fish with.

  5. The water is and will be fast and stained. Lot of run off right now. It probably wouldn't hurt to have some heavier jigs as well as the 1/2 oz.

At times I have used 1/8 and 1/4 in shallow slack water. Conditions probably will be tough. MS is having a get together at the Zilwaukee Launch so that will be crowded. Here is a link to a map that shows launches etc. Zoom in on the areas.
