  1. Did a solo maiden voyage from 6:30 to 10:30, ended up 2 for 4 with a 4# king and 3# steelhead. Got a double header right off the bat in about 110 fow and only landed one, shortly after came the steelhead in 105 fow and about an hour later I had what had to be a bigger king on in 130 fow and lost it. I must not have dialed them right considering all the good reports I've been hearing.

    Here's what took the hits:

1-1 Moonshine flounder pounder magnum on 200 copper

1-1 Michigan stinger uv fruit stand on 150 copper

0-1 Michigan stinger magnum mixed veggies blue on diwnrigger 55 ft down

0-1 Pro king blue jeans flasher fly combo on a #1 dipsy 150 ft backIMG_20190531_121554.jpeg

  2. Set lines south of Holland in 125 fow at 5:30 and pulled them at 10. I ended up 2 for 4 with a 4# coho and a 3# laker. My hits were all around 135 fow.

    Here's what took the hits:

1/1 mixed veggies spin doctor with a spongebob meat rig on 300 copper

1/2 big weenie angry alewife with an angry alewife meat rig 45 down on a downrigger

0/1 plain white pro troll flasher with a nose bleed fly on 150 copper 20180719_072936.jpg

  3. I have never seen them up here in the north. The water never turns over. I'm 2 hours from Frankfort. And that would be the closest I think I could find them. But with no connections for when the alewives are in its pointless for me to drive that far just to check.

I've never been north of Whitehall during a flip so I guess I can't speak for those ports. I'm pretty sure a buddy of mine gets them in Manistee harbor though

  4. I did a solo troll this morning from 5:30 to 11 am and ended up 2/2 with a 1# steelhead and a 25.5# king that could've eaten the steelhead. The steelhead came in 150 fow on a north troll and the king came in 130 fow on a south troll. Here's what took the hits:

    - Steelhead: spongebob meat rig behind a mixed veggies spin doctor on 300 copper

    - King: blue fly behind a blue jeans Michigan stinger flasher on 200 copper IMG_20180712_123303_607.jpg

  5. I've been doing this but have been cutting off the heads and freezing.
Because, the heads don't fit in my big weanie meat rigs...
    - I'm curious what formula you use for brine?
    - And, are you flattening the heads or cutting to fit in the rigs? maybe there are bigger head rigs out there...?
I cut the heads off because I don't trust there's enough meat in their head to stay on a rig. I just put mine in half canning salt and half store brand borax, it made the meat leathery tough and they don't go bad in the fridge

  6. After 2 weeks of no trolling I finally got back out. We dropped lines at 6:00 and pulled in at 9:00 and ended up 2 for 3 with a 9lb and 16lb king, all just north of Holland in 120 ft. Two hits on a north troll and one on a southwest.

  8. My dad and I haven't been able to hit the lake all month so we did more recon than anything. We fished from 6:45 to 11:45 just north of Holland. Almost immediately we had a rip and missed it at 140. After going to about 200 and getting nothing we went to 150, marked a few, and took a 21# king. We pulled lines not too long after. Sure hope this cold front loosens them up.

    Here's what took the hits:

Downrigger 50 down w/ mixed veggies dreamweaver 0-1

    Downrigger 100 down w/ mixed veggies dreamweaver 1-1 20180529_101637.jpg

  9. We dropped lines at 5:30 am in 110 ft of water, started trolling NW and went over 2 full hours without as much as a release. Around about 8 we got a 16# king at 135 fow on a dipsy diver 275 out on 1.5. Before we could even get that one back out our downrigger 85 down took about the biggest coho I've ever seen (forgot to weigh it). After a brief drought we lost a king at the boat on a downrigger 85 down in 128 fow that I still can't unsee, immediately following that something took a rip at our 14c lead that didn't hook. After an hour drought we took a 17# king on a downrigger 105 down in 150 fow that got wrapped up in our 300 copper and both our divers.

    Here's what took the hits:

2 - pole dancer meat rig behind a green demon magnum paddle

1 - green and blue meat rig behind a green and blue big weenie flasher

1 - spongebob meat rig behind a mixed veggies spin doctor

    1 - moonshine flounder pounder

  10. Trolled from about 5:30 to 8:30 and ended up 3 for 4, all medium kings. We started at 140 fow straight out of port and trolled NW to 180 with not so much as a mark. We then trolled NE to 160 and the fun began. We marked a couple then suddenly a downrigger 85 down took a king, and about as soon as we boated him the other downrigger 95 down took a king that wrapped up in two of our long lines. After about the 20 minute ordeal of untangling everything we had to take some time to refind the spot but we eventually found the same spot and on cue had a couple marks, got a king on a downrigger 85 down, and lost another one on a downrigger 85 down.

    Here's what took the hits:

2 - pole dancer meat rig behind a magnum green and white pro troll paddle

2 - spongebob meat rig behind a mixed veggies spin doctor

3 on a north troll, 1 on a northeast troll

  11. Successful solo trip this morning out of Holland. Fished from 6 to 10:30 am and went 5 for 11, 4 kings and a steelhead. Most of my hits came around 125 fow 45 down with one coming in 90 fow and last minute double headers in 135 fow. A spongebob meat rig behind a mixed veggies spin doctor took 7 of the 11 hits.

Not sure why this app won't let me post pics
