Congrats to the captain and crew on Drift for a 1st place 156.9 point box Also to King Fish and crew for 2nd place 141.85 points Fishsniffer came in 3rd at 133.3 points very nice guys. Here is the spread sheet
  4. 54 and grandma always said " Getting old is not for sissies " on the other hand Robert your wife could wake up smell the coffee and notice the view is much better than at the dock LOL.
  5. Robert I have a cure Steve and I can come up and take your boat out that way you can sleep in and fish at the same time. We will wake you when it's your turn to reel one in.
  6. every time I chk site from my phone it tells me to use Tapatalk but it does not work.
  7. I don't think any of them are the same but your Depth Raider is reading down speed all that matters is being able to repeat your speed and presentation.
  8. Frank is dead on with any AP you have to tweak it to fit what your are doing. The new units like the Garmin and Others including the SPX5 will eventually learn by themselves however you still need to make some changes now and then. Things I play with every trip on mine are the rudder response level Cruising on plane I like it slower because it lets me play with my trim without turning the boat to over ride my changes. It is nice to pick up a few mph without adding throttle by getting the trim right. When trolling I set the response to match the conditions and as it gets sloppier i will increase the response level.
  9. Pretty sure it is power assist cable steering which is pretty much standard on nearly all I/O boats. This limits you to a few drives for the AP which are the RayMarine SPX5 or the In Dash Octipus drive or the Octipus remote drive. Simrad used the in dash drive on their AP12R and AP14R systems which they no longer make. Sitex currently makes a AP using the same drive. It requires removing the entire helm unit and replacing it with the new drive the advantage is it looks stock when done. Down side is you may have to change your steering cable to make it work. It also requires 12in of clearance behind the dash which my boat did not have. http://www.wmjmarine.com/st80ms.html This is the one I have on my boat http://www.wmjmarine.com/c42647.html
  10. Four Winns 267 Quest which currently is needing a motor.
  11. Most fishing boats are sold privately so tough to find a used one at a boat dealership. You need to make a list of what you want in a boat and let everyone know so we can help. For me it was this, Had to be trailer able Cuddy with a head Walkaround 24 to 28ft low hours flat floor in cockpit storage for fishing gear full canvas or hard top In the end I had it down to 4 boats and wife said no to all of them I remembered one in Muskegon I was on the fence about. So I went back and made a offer on it pending my wife liking it and she said yes.
  12. Raymarine SPX5 with a P70R head is what I have on my 26 which was a pain to drive as well. Install was easy other than on mine I had to build my own spacers to get the steering wheel to not hit the shifter. Cost was under 2 grand best investment I ever made on a boat. You could do the install in under 2 hours in your drive way take it to the lake and calibrate it in a hour and be done. Mariners Center in Muskegon usually has them in stock. Calumet Marine also has them and is a site sponsor. They could ship you one and have it to you mid week. 3 fat guys landing a triple in the dark with no one driving priceless.
  13. As of now we are canceling the Sat event and will hope to fish it Sun if the weather improves. We have had great luck weather wise this year but this is not anything we can send you guys out in.
  14. I assuming it was a clear hose that yellowed over time and it is a tell tail hose that lets you know your fuel pump is bad. It is supposed to go to a bowl vent so when the pump fails it puts fuel in the hose that you can see.
  15. Yes one thing I did with my Depth Raider years ago was ran it 4 ft down off the side of the boat and compared it to my GPS that I use all the time the Lowrance 525CDF What I found was the probe ran roughly .8mph less than the Lowrance So I could factor that into my speed figures. So if my down speed was the same as my GPS I knew I was going into a current of around .8mph. I also know that a setup that looks good at 3.0 on GPS needs to run at 2.2 down speed to have the same action. Finally the only place those numbers mean anything is on my boat yours will be slightly different. Going back a few years I took my brother his son and a friend out on Labor day to do a little Steelhead fishing. My buddy Steve and another friend were on his 17 on the cell phone I gave him all my numbers because we were killing the fish he followed me with the exact same program and could not buy a fish. We took our last double for our limit 200 yds off his stern. I told him to keep the program and change his speed til he got fish and he had to speed up almost 1 mph to match me and then he started getting fish. So my numbers won't work on his boat.
  16. Before any of this gets too far remember every speed device is calibrated differently. I can run my Garmin 5 ft away from my Lowrance and they read different speeds. Last summer Fishsniffer and I were trolling the same area and both running the same patterns and GPS speed and he passed me.
  17. I don't think there is a too fast or too slow if you can get lures down the fish will decide. I am a speed troller I like to cover water and work aggressive fish. Going slow lets the fish have too much time to look over your bait I want them to grab it so when going faster they have to use up energy to look it over. That said the lure still has to work correctly and most lures have a sweet spot as to speed and setup. The exception is bottom fishing as those fish are often resting so a slow noisy setup gets them to wake up and take the bait. As Mark said depth also plays into it chasing steelhead is different than working kings or browns or lakers.
  18. Fished with Jon on 7Mary3 had a very slow but fun day ended 2 for 4 nice Steelhead and a Coho. Lost a hit on a slider between fish 1 and 2 and had a nice King on the wire diver break off a leader and leave with Jon's BW paddle and Meat Rig. Tourney results Fishsniffer took 1st with 106.4 points Drift took 2nd with 54.4 and Sink or Swim took 3rd with 45.9 Sink or Swim also took big fish with a 19.65lb King which outweighed everyone but Don's total box. Here is the weigh in sheet.
  19. If anyone could use a extra hand let me know otherwise I will see you all at weigh in.
  20. Was out tonight it sucked stay in shallow and run fast we went deep and wasted gas for 1 small laker.
  21. Radio Shack has small packages I use 1.5mm thin wall for copper. on my rigger setup I use 3mm heavy wall with the glue. If you want a lot of it try this place http://www.heatshrink.com/heat_shrink_tubing/b2_3x_spl.asp
