  1. I commercial fished trolling for salmon for years and it is possible to distinguish with some certainty what species you are seeing on the screen. A mark will change it's characteristics greatly depending on your speed and the speed and direction of the fish. Basically, how long it stays in the cone of the transducer signal. Thermoclines, fish air bladders, and a few other factors may also have an effect on signal returns. I used to be able to watch schools of sockeye and pink salmon swimming with and following my flashers and hoochies by slowing my troll speed and letting the fish briefly swim ahead of my tackle or by cranking the gain high. You would be amazed at how large a school of fish would follow a boat, especially when the right range of voltage field was present. I would see this sometimes when passing over the trail of a troller 100 feet or so behind it.

  2. Actually, a spring is a chinook or a king (US). A tyee is a chinook over 30lbs. Us commercial trollers called a chinook that dressed out at over 12lbs a smiley. The price went up for us on those, hence the smiles.

My lure voltage in fresh water is usually between 1/4 and 1/2 of what it would be on the same lure in ocean water using the same anode. My salt water spoons have voltage readings of around .7 volts measured in the water a couple of inches away from the lure's hook. My fresh water ones with the 'hotter' anodes vary from .3 to .55 volts depending on mineral content, water temp and lure metals. I have experienced favorable test results in the .2 volt plus range. I have yet to find the high end of voltage where fish are spooked away. In my initial testing on chinook, I pushed the voltage as high as I could by using fresh water anodes in salt water achieving over 1 volt on the hooks. The fish still favored that lure over a plain identical one. I hope to have more testing completed this year on variations of setups etc.

  3. It seems like the results in fresh water are mixed. Some swear by it and some haven't seen any change. Thought I would share the following email text from a Washington State fisherman in salt water. This is the type of responses that I am seeing here on the west coast.

    Al,

I want to give you a report on my fishing this weekend in South Puget Sound (Tacoma). In the area where I was fishing there were 9-10 boats fishing Saturday and 9-10 boats fishing Sunday. There were a total (my count) of seven springs hooked for the both days for all the boats (18-20 boats). I was the only one ( I am sure) using the anodes, stainless swivels and Maruto hooks that I purchased from you on my hoochies. I hooked four of the seven springs hooked for the two days! I caught the only spring caught on Saturday and I caught three of the six springs hooked on Sunday. for all the boats. So, I think your gear (anodes) are certainly making a difference. I hooked four springs on the Maruto hooks and never lost any fish. I cannot find the Maruto hooks here. I would like to buy some mare anodes, stainless swivels and Maruto hooks from you.

I was using a Hotspot flasher, 36" leader and a #742 hoochie which is a favorite color here in the Tacoma area. Take care.

    Larry

  4. Thanks to all who have responded to my requests with PMs and emails. The test packages including a variety of 'voltage tuned spoons' have mostly been mailed out. Here is a link to my instructional video. I look forward to seeing your test results posted here in the near future. Good fishin. Al

    Instructional video.

  5. Hi Adam

Thanks for responding to my request for volunteers. I would like to set you up with the necessary goodies so you can try out my concept. I would like to know what type of lures you use and what fish that you target. It really helps to know the setup and the metals that your lures are made of. If you use spoons, I can send you a few color patterns of your choice. If we do that, I would still like to tune some of your own lures that you are comfortable with and have confidence in. Let me know what you use. I would really like to see what happens if you are the only one using my stuff in a group of guys fishing close together.

I had a long chat with Jim Flemming about his musky chartering and fishing (Lk Champlain & St Claire) and will be sending him some as well. He wanted to book me in for a day this summer to show him how it works but I couldn't commit to that at the time.

    Cheers for now

  6. Hi All

I am seeking a few recruits to test some of my LureCharge products while ice fishing. I live on the west coast where the only ice is in the freezer. I would like to assist about 10 volunteers in 'voltage tuning' their own lures with some of my products and/or send some of my own spoons. Don't laugh, skeptics. I can make one of two identical lures catch about 80% of the fish when trolled 16' apart. I would like a cross section of anglers who go after different species and use different setups. This is still a learning curve for me. To this point, I haven't found a style of lure that I can't tune to some degree, including flies with stainless or nickel hooks. I would like to do an info share on this link so as to be completely transparent and above board. We can do address info later via PM, email, or through a moderator. Thanks Al Dampier www.lurecharge.com

  7. Thanks one and all for the warm welcome. I fished commercially for salmon (trolling) for many years. I learned early on that it made a difference after my first boat 'wouldn't catch fish'! After that, all my boats had good bonding systems as well as a Russell Black Box. Like night and day. Al

  8. Hi Guys. Thanks for the warm welcome. I look forward to chatting it up and answering all the questions about my 'voltage enhanced' products. I live on Canada's west coast now but I still refer to home as Nipigon, on the north shore of Lake Superior.
