  1. I am having problems posting to this so here it is again. I am mainly a Lake Superior fisherman and run a 17.5 foot Ranger with DRs, Dipseys, LC, Boards, etc. I am looking to either launch out of Kewaunee or Sheboygan (driving from Minneapolis) this weekend and would like to open my boat up for another angler to join me. It would be good if you had some experience as well. PM me or shoot me a text 617-785-6431 Simon
  2. I'm still intrigued of the idea of a snubber from the cable to the ball and am definitely going to use a snubber from the ball to the release. I use the Scotty release clips which might make the release line a little long unless I just replace the release line with the snubber. Hmmmm
  3. Yeah I was thinking the same thing. I think I might give it a try this weekend.
  4. So is the snubber from the ball to the release clip or the rigger cable to the ball. I'm confused?
  5. One more question guys. Sorry!! How late in the season can you typically find Chrome? Or is it pretty impossible to catch good table fare Kings soon?
  6. Thanks for the pics. Much appreciated
  7. I am going to be taking my wife to Sheboygan salmon fishing next weekend. It looks like the reports are okay? Any information on the fishing would be great. Is there a popular/resourceful bait/tackle shop? Does anyone have a recommendation for landing a small craft (17.5 ft Ranger) in the Sheboygan area? I am also asking for recommendations on camping for that area? We were thinking of camping at the Kohler-Andrae grounds but don't want to trailer the boat a million miles. Thanks everyone!
  8. Thanks everyone for the good info. I was wondering if certain ports are traditionally better for fall fishing? Is Sheboygan better than MKE or Kewaunee or Algoma? Just thought i would ask. I have been trolling almost every chance i can on Lake Superior for Lakers and Salmon and feel confident with my gear and my boat and given fall fishing seems to be near shore or just off shore that makes me feel better (not that bad stuff can't happen) so thanks again.
  9. Thanks guys. What times of year does the harbor fishing or near shore fishing usually present itself?
  10. Hello everyone! I have been enjoying reading everyone's posts and reports. I am new to this site and am new to Great Lakes Fishing. I have made one trip to Door County this summer and really spend most of my time on Lake Superior (I live in Minneapolis). I am absolutely hooked on Salmon fishing in the great lakes and really want to make another trip out this year yet but have a couple of questions. First of all, I have a 18 foot Ranger and have lead core, dipsey's, etc. I have purchased two Cannon MAg 10 electric DR's but haven't gotten them installed yet. sigh. My questions are pretty simple 1) What is the fall run like and typical techniques? 2) Is there a better area (Door Cty vs Kewaunee?) 3) Are any of the Kings still "Chrome" or is this really a C&R type of fishing this time of year? Any other suggestions or tips in general would be very appreciated. Thank you all. Simon
  11. thanks guys. I am not sure exactly what to do. I don't want them too far back because that would just be a pain to work with constantly bending over and close to the water (don't want to fall in). I don't know how a rail mount would be on this boat i would be interested to see what that looks like and to be honest that is a pretty non-intrusive way to get the riggers set up. Still thinking on it.
  12. Here is another picture of what I'm dealing with.
  13. I am looking for any ideas for mounting my Cannon Mag 10 Electric Downriggers. I have a 1760 Ranger (pictures below) I have the Swivel Mounts as well as the 6 inch Traxtech mounting runner plates as well as the Traxtech 3 inch Riser Bases. One thing I keep struggling with is the back end of the boat is slightly beveled down towards the back of the boat and isn’t flush. Any ideas or photos of your Down Rigger mounting placement would be appreciated. I know the pics aren't ideal.
