  1. Fishing still a bit slow but shows of improvement in the future. Fish were between 90 and 120 FOW. Fishing down 55-80 on riggers and divers set back about 150-200. best baits were Stinger stingrays in Blue green killer dolphin, green wiggle, Jager bomb, and Pro-troll green/green 8" spinner with purple bead No-see-um from Rapture trolling flies. Had a dozen bites but only 7 captures. ( 6 kings and a Trout). Might have been a little better fishing but it was had to controll speed in the canin' winds and waves and the sheep watter everywhere you looked.

  2. Fished out of Grand Haven . Fishing was good between the pierheads to about 50 FOW. Fished 3,5,and 7 colors of lead with jawbreakers, jagerbombs, and tangerines in Stingray size. Riggers set from 25 ft down to the bottom with Stinger Nitro's in Twister and Area 51, White 11' pro-troll with rapture nbk stacked with reg nbk. Dives with pt's in wht/blue slick blue bubble fly. Fishing wasn't fast paced but very consistent with only 1 double on a 4 color with stinger nitro stinger pox. Boated 12 and lost 10 others so we were 12-22. Pretty good night. Biggest fish was a 19.8 lb king. Caught 2 trout - 1sh and 1 lt, the rest were kings.

Hopefully the fish are showing up for good now.

  3. Hey this might be a sore issue and I mean for that not to be the case but I just wondered why guys put their fish count on their posts? Maybe for personal remembering of their year's catch?

  4. Fished with my wife and 10 year old on Sunday morning along with 3 other of her friends and let them reel in the fish. Headed out to 180 ( in the bowl) and set rods for the girls. Went on a 255 deg troll and went 10 for 14 in less than 2 hours and they figured that they had enough so off to breakfast we went but not a bad day on the water for only a couple of hours. Best was 3 colors with the steelie stomper then the out and down with gold watermelons stacked together. All spoons were in the Stinger regular size.

  5. Fished a trip out of Muskegon this week and the fishing is about as hot as it can get. Went out to 70 FOW and started setting rods. Divers on 3 set back 135 and 153 with blue and green freakin' veggies in the Stinger Stingray size. Riggers were tipped with Stinger Blue and Green Dolphins down 40,60, and 45 with 60 being the chute rigger. Reg spoons in the same colors were on fixed sliders feet above the Stingrays. Leadcore had Lemon ice, Carmel dolphins, and Glow dolphins on them. Lengths of lead were 7,10, and 13 colors. Like I stated we started in 70FOW went on a W/SW troll to 187FOW and back to 120 FOW. Fished for a total of 3hrs and 15 minutes and had to go but ended up with 18 KINGS and 1 TROUT. Not bad for fist day out on the water. Fishing will continue to be good for the upcoming couple of weeks with no major warm ups in the weather forecasted.

  6. You don't always need the "light line" theory. There are a tremendous amount of successful captains and tournament winners on the east side of Lake Michigan that have never touched the 12lb. Depending on what side of the lake you fish on is a key factor in the methods you choose. Determine some of the top capatains in your area and start with what they might run and how they set up their presentations. On the east side last year there was a big plug bite and flasher fly bite for a lot of the season. Hottest baits were the 11" Pro-Troll double fishscale flasher with the Rature Oceanna behind it . It was in our spread from July thru the end of the year and never left the chute rod. Plugs were great on the copper and core rods. Specifically the Silver Horde 2x glow and the blue and green spatterbacks in the double glow. (note these seem to get better as it got brighter out).

    Hope this helps.

  7. We've been running out of Muskegon almost everyday on our charterboat and the fishing has been outstanding to say the least. Limit catches are common in the mornings and good numbers are still available in the evenings. Fishing 90-160 FOW setting riggers at 95, 101, 106 down. Fish the 11" Pro-Troll with fishscale tape tipped with a Rapture Oceanna Fly. Leader lengths of 33-40 inches to the back of the hooks on the fly. Divers set on 1.5-2 with the mag rings on them 220-250 back. If the Oceanna fly slows down with bites try the Frosted fern or Hitman No-see-um. Cores have been 200-450 ft of copper and Silver Horde Ace high models in the double glow, green or blue spatterbacks or the double glow with pink dots.

    Hope this helps.

    Get out there and fish.
