  1. I agree with all the info above, lead core is a good weapon to add to your arsenal.

BUT...There are some negatives with it.

One being a full core is 100 yards of lead plus you have a leader on that (I run about 50') plus the mono backing that is let out for the boards, so there is about 400' or more line hanging out the back of the boat. This is were you have to pay close attention to other boats out there. Some of those guys still don't know what lead core is and don't look to see if your running boards or not and will cut right in behind you and ZIP, there goes $50 worth of gear..

Second, lead core is not for the weak (young kids, elders, ect...). I am by no means a wuss but I have had 20+lb fish kick my but on leadcore..

  2. I am looking to upgrade my MMC card for my gps's. I have a Lowrance lms-240 gps on the boat and a Lowrance ifinder H2O handheld that are currently sharing a Freedom Maps MMC card. I would like to get something that has depth contour's for both inland and Great Lakes.

I am leaning toward either Map Create 7 or Lake Master maps. Anyone use these. Pro's/Con's??

  3. I agree Frank I never saw any sense in tieing 50 bucks in gear to a 10 cent swivel.

Yea I learned that one the hard way myself.

When I first got into salmon fishing I spent mega bucks on gear and tackle and then bought cheap swivel's and line at first, that only lasted the first year..

I never run my flashers that far behind the ball. Usually 10-20 ft. back. Sometimes as close as 5 ft. back.

    Nick,

Do you ever have problems with them tangling up with nearby riggers?

I used to have this happen all the time so I quit running flashers of the riggers and then I had a buddy tell me he was running his 100' behind the ball so I tried that and it is most times my top producer. This is running the large white hoochie and red meat rigg. Most times this is my top producer and seems to hook up on bigger fish.

  4. Watts divided by voltage is amps yours comes to 2.875a so on the 7ahr batttery about 2.5 hours.

Thanks Jim. Learn something new everyday.

So if I just added another 7ahr battery that would give me about 5hrs of run time then right?? If this is correct then math wise I would get over 30min longer run time with two 7a/hr battery's than just one 12a/hr battery??

  5. I am making a homemade underwater camera for ice fishing and I am not sure if I have large enough batteries? I have two 12 volt 7amp/hr batteries and one will be used for my fish finder. Will just one battery be enough to run a 9" color TV and camera for at least a half days fishing?

I was thinking of getting another battery of the same size and doubling them up or I came across a 12 volt 12amp/hr battery for $29.95 plus s/h. http://www.batterymart.com/p-12v-12ah-sealed-lead-acid-battery.html

    Your thoughts??

  6. Because this regulation does not have a major biological impact, we feel that alternate views are important and that the decision should be primarily based on social considerations.

How can 2 more fish per person NOT make a biological impact? I don't know the numbers but I would have to guess that this would increase the harvest per year dramatically.

Look at it this way, on average us weekend warriors have 3 person's on board and during the peek of the season in august and September I have seen well over 300 boats in a port on a single day. Just crunching numbers here but lets say each boat has 3 person's on board. Thats 900 souls. If all 300 boats limit out with todays limits that is 2700 salmon, with the increase that would jump to 4500 salmon, a difference of 1800 fish. Granted there are alot of variables, like some boats would not get there limit, but you get my point.

Don't get me wrong I love catching more fish but I think we would see the affects of this in a couple years. Besides I end up giving most of my fish away cause I can not consume my last limit before my next trip.

    Nick,

May I ask were you got this information??

  7. Mike,

Is there a reason why people would hack into a site like this?

I could see why a criminal would hack into a system like a bank or something but why a site like this? Just some geeky kid that likes to mess with people?

  8. A few years ago I was fishing Rogers City and a buddy convinced me to buy this spoon...

    235_G.jpg

Of course I only bought one cause I said "that thing's not going to catch a cold." Well that evening we could not keep the fish of that spoon.:(

I still have that spoon today but it has never been a "hot spoon" since that day. I have caught fish with it since then but I could run it all day and it might take a fish.

I have also tried other spoons that are copper backed and yea I have caught fish with them but they are not my goto spoons. When fishing is slow they are usually the last thing to go in the water just before the kitchen sink..

  9. Congrats Nick on the win. Cant wait untill next year...

On a side note I was in another league with a bunch of friend's and I came in second by a mere 10 points.

  10. I bought one 3 years ago to try and, like others said, I cant say they out fished the unlighted or glow J's but I did catch fish with them. The battery in the first one I had lasted 2 season's. I have bought others since the first one but not seeing a big difference in catches I don't think they justify the cost so I will not be buying any more.

  11. I think the main reason Mike, was because R. Gordon was docked 100 points and he was one of my drivers which in turn droped me 100 points. Here is the explanation I got from the nascar website......

The harshest penalty went to Robby Gordon, who had an unapproved front bumper cover on his No. 7 Dodge during opening day inspection for the Daytona 500. The deduction of points drops him from ninth in the standings to 40th

  12. Thanks Mike...:)

Yea I was just trying to read through the rules to find out about if we can change drivers and I think you can during the draft. Only thing is I don't remember what time the draft was four our league. I know it was on Wed but cant remember what time. Any one know?? Sucks to cause I was home today and could have done some changes but I forgot..:o

  13. Yep it was great to see Newman win but WOW he would have been one of the last drivers I would have picked to win it though...:D

Did anyone else think that they are having more commercials than usual this year. Man it seemed like every 5 laps they would go to a commercial....:(

  14. I would love to see a repeat of last years winner....:D

Only problem with that is I dont think he has a car to do it this year.

Other drivers I would like to see in victory lane are Clint Bowyer and Mark Martin.
