  1. They hang out where they hang out, not as big of a drive to return the river they were planted in as other salmon or steelhead, they follow bait and water temps more than anything. Female steelhead both skams and little man(spring runs) often have whiter meat and with skams they have a tendancy to run into warmer water alot making them darker and meat lighter. The egss are so small beacause as they do run in the summer but they do not spawn until jan-feb. There natural reproduction according to the dnr is very very low. They are awsome fighters and very nomadic, you can find them in 30 or 300 ft. In any port.

  2. not saying you didnt catch them, just that you were wernt the only boat up there north of the stacks in that water, just the only boat to catch fish, i fish tournys to. Won the Michigan Sportsman tourny last weekend actually. I have a freezer full of eggs and fillets to, congrats on a great night. Doesnt matter now this wind pushed them all over hell im sure and pushed the warm water back in. Ill be out tommorow and to see what we can find. Good Luck

  3. Thats very odd considering we were north of the stack set up in 70 and ended in 70, both the guys i knew that were out also set up in the same water, didnt mark almost anything, or catch they were 1-2 and 1-1, you must have found the only hungry school out there and you were not the only boat up there. We never saw a fish caught out the of the 10 plus boats around us. Other than the 4 we had. Again good job.

  4. 5. Fished fri morning in the 14fter, perfect morning on the water flatt calm. Everything else was on a mix no hot setup, RV happy meal took a few on rigger down deep. Great food and good time at weigh in, plus made enough to be able to slide back out Sun. morning

  6. Sat went out of South Haven set up in 85 straight out, on a NNW, picked away at them all morning, ended up 10-13, all kings, One on a small green paddle with a green fly, everything else on meat, hot setup was a 8in showtime spinny with mirrage teasers clear meat head took 6 on a core and a half, white slick 10 in spinny same meat rig took 3, chrome frog 10n. spinny took a few, best water was 110-120.

Mon night me and the GF took the little boat out, set up around 85 ft. on a nw troll, washed lures for an hour or so, then took 3 pretty quick at last light in about 110ft, 2 6-8 lb kings an d a 6ish hoho, 2 on green splatter plug on an 8 color with 4 oz. drop weight and one on RV flounder pounder on full core. That was it , dipseys and copper never took a bump, 3 for 3, sounded like deeper was better some guys had good night out past 150. VERY FOGGY but very flat nice night.

  7. I fish Sout haven and Port Sheldon out of my 14ft. and have averaged around 5 fish a trip, browns were awsome everything else has been steady, and starting to see some good kings took our first true 20lber of the year last week, havent been skunked yet and average a few trips a week.

  8. I run a 14fter as well and have braid and mono, and run wire with alot of friends on there boats, I have not noticed ANY difference in my braid and mono dipseys this year, and have outfished guys running wire multiple trips this year, if anything my hottest dipsey rod has been a mono dipsey, wire is nice for depth and feeling everything but i do not think it is necessary personally. Plus its nice to have the mono dipsey rods in the spring, i turn them into my flatlines for browns. I would add a 300 copper before changing your dipseys. What port to you fish mostly?

  9. I use 20lb floro on all of my copper and lead leaders, 17lb mono on riggers, and braid on my divers with 8-15 ft. floro leads. Floro makes a big differance in my opinion for leads and the lighter the better for riggers. I know a few guys that run 10lb on there riggers and do way better than the rest, i just dont have 500bucks to spend on reels with drags smooth enough to run that lite.

  10. We were out there to, little bumbier than i planned in the 14fter, but laid down a bit as the morning went on, we were 3-5 120-140 was out best, 300 half moon bad toad 2-3, steelie and king and lost a big king, 7 color, rv flounder pounder, 1-2 took asteelie and lost another crazy acrobat. Lost a board out there attached to a 240ish copper, of course no name on it but it had a mag glo blue dolphin on it, If anyone finds it keep the copper and spoon but id love my board:thumb:

  11. Took a a short trip with the gf tonight in the 14fter. Went North out of the piers, set up around 80ft on a nw, took a nice steelie on a full core in around 100 on a Moonshine half moon bad toad, after that all meat all divers, high diver 190back took a 8ish lb king 8in. spinni and meat, low diver 150 back was 1-3 10in spinnie chrome with a green edge cant remember name took a 18-20lb king and lost a screammmer had me back to 480 at one point, and life is good 10in. spinnie and meat took a 12ish lb king. All came in around 100ft.

  12. Fished SH this morning, ended up 5-6 all kings, box was 42 lbs, so not bad, took fish from 60 out to 130 so scattered, all were on a west troll, 3-4 on meat, low diver 85 back 2-2, 0-1 on high diver 115, and 1-1 on low diver back 80.
