  2. There are a lot of little factors that have to mesh just right for a successful 1st. trip. A well organized crew that knows what needs to be done at the launch, two engines that need to perform as designed, fishable water, the fish, and a smooth retrieval. Finally after two failed attempts to launch, “Eleanor†made me proud.

Now if the fish would have been a little more willing to cooperate. Wasn’t a SKUNK. We did manage to net a couple of South Haven Specials just north of the piers in 40fow. Both came on DR’s 35 & 40 ft down on a DW green dolphin, 8# and a blue dolphin, 4#. With 6 boards out, not even a tickle on Thin Fins, Rapalas or a stop and go rig. Did manage to mark two pods of Yellow-bellies in 57fow but that was it. But there is always a next time.

  3. The Skunk’s out of the boat again after last Fridays solo outing.

Neil, Cory and I cleared the river just before 0600hrs on Eleanor with high hopes and a plan. Well the plan didn’t work but we still put 2 steelies and a greaser in the box, and had a great morning on the water. 1st. steelie hit a standard size Smurf on 200x45 CU. While she was coming to the net, the 250x45 CU. w/ a Mag Smurf burped about 5 ft. The next steelie came on a green Monkey Puke on 250x30 CU. that Cory was letting out. The AIR show started 100ft behind the boat. The greaser came on a white glow paddle w/ triple green teasers and a Silver Horde UV green and white Squid fly 65ft down on a rigger. The last hit of the morning came on a Mag Smurf on the 250x45 Cu but it was short lived.

All fish were caught in 115-135fow, E/W troll @ 2.5

And for all you Perchers, the mob was south of the pier.
