  1. Loomis street is ten bucks. Nice launch but im a cheap skate so we launch our twentyfive foot century at the free launch around the back of P. M lake. The downside is that there is no fish cleaning station and limited parking. Plus the drive around pere marquette lake. Loomis street and copean park have nice fish cleaning stations.

  2. All i know is we fished ludington the afternoon of the 26th and the water was freezing at big sable point. We did not take any fish up there so we ran back and fished in front of the harbor. We marked lots of bait there and have heard reports of some nice kings being caught around the harbor due to the warmer water there. All we hooked up with at the harbor that night was lots of small one year old salmon. The wind is supposed to blow southwest next three days. That should warm the water some. Most charter captains have been running to the southwest to catch mature kings. Good luck out there.

  3. As Ed mentioned above, it also depends on the lure size and current. Best way to find out is using them. I hated dipsys when I first started using them. Now after five years experience with them I find they catch most of the fish.

  4. The dive chart from luhr Jensen i believe tells u the depth if u are running 20 pound mono at 2.5 mph. It all depends on what u are running for line. Mono stretches and drags in the water more than braid or a wire diver. I run wire on all four of my divers and I know I can get a small diver with the small ring to dive to over 75 feet on the 3 setting. My low wire diver on the 1 1/2 setting will go over 100 ft deep. Like I said it depends on the line u use for your dipsys. I like wire. No stretch, less drag in the water. Hope this helps

  5. Fished Ludington this morning. Set up in 120 fow in front of the bath house. Took one big lake trout on a high diver out 330 with a white glow spin doctor and a blue fairways fly. Searched high and low but never found any kings. Tonight I fished pentwater. Ran south to the silver lake dunes. Set up in 120 fow. Took one lake trout on the same spin doctor and fly. Also picked up a seven pound king on a 250 copper 45 lb, fish hit on a warrior uv mixed veggie. Tough fishing.

  6. I heard the kings showed up in manistee a day or two after the tight lines fOr troops tournament. I am even hearing reports of kings in the Frankfort area. I myself have not been out, but some charter guys I know have been getting between five and ten kings per trip. We do have three days of north wind coming so that may not b good for the kings.

  7. The last two years i was soaking my herring strips in herring oil before i put them in the water. I didnt really see a difference. I was also soaking my felt imitation herring strips in herring oil. Problem with that is you need to bring the felt strips up and re-apply the oil. I have found that the felt imitation strips do not work as good as the real meat. As far as whether or not oil makes a big difference, im not totally convinced. I am going to continue using the oil until its gone, than see how well regular herring works without the oil.
