  1. We, Charger and 69Camaro, went out in the late afternoon, Started in about 70 FOW. Set up included Downriggers W/stacks, Dipsy Divers, 150' and 225' coppers off of boards. We took hits on Carmel Dolphin on the 150' and the Rigger, Mixed Veggies on the 225' and wonderbread on the dipsy, the dipsy was the only one we did not land. Best action was around the scum line near 200 FOW 2.8-3.0 at the ball. Beautiful night to be out. Two kings 6-8 pounds. The first king was 18.56lbs!!

  2. Joe,

Definitely read the posts before heading out, people here are great at giving reports quickly. We started last year too. If it had not been for the great people on this site we would have been lost. Met some great people and every one is more than willing to help. Last year was not the easiest, fish were there one day and gone the next, very frustrating. But you can definitely get yourself in the right area following what the members here say. Welcome to the site.

  3. Fished Grand Haven a lot last year. Here is what I can say. Surface speed and speed at the ball were completely different. So there is really no true answer to that question. There were times they were 2+MPH different. The currents were terrible and they seemed to change directions quite often. If you do not have a fish hawk or one of the others that will give you speed at the ball, you were lost, or guessing based on the angle of the downrigger cable, which I am not good at. watch the speed of the charter boats and try to go about the same while heading in that direction. I know I did not answer your questions, but I am not sure there is a right one.

  4. I have an 18' mod v that we use for other things, you would not catch me out on lake Michigan in it. Way too many things out side of your control and the norm happen out there. 2 footers would be rough, but then you get the 3+ that comes out of no where. The 45' boat goes by throwing a 4' wake. My suggestion is don't do it.

  5. I love the fishing and this site, but at times it is good to see and talk about other things as well. I think it brings members of the site closer together when you share other interests. Some nice cars, even the ford. :)

And no, lets not talk about the Lions odds, they will disappoint you no matter how low your expectations are.

  6. My brother and I Ordered LED lights and picked up a couple of batteries and a switch, spent some time yesterday mounting and wiring them all up. Came home last night flipped the switch and it was great! Bright lights and no roaring generator. Bowfishing will actually be enjoyable!
