  1. Well on Saturday night I met up with Mister Ed to pre fish the tournament for Sunday. We had a very strong east wind and the water temp was 70 deg and started from the top and went all the way down to the bottom. We didn't catch any fish at all that night and now didn't think Sunday was going to be hot at all.

    Sunday's West Michigan Event,

Met up with GLF and Waterfoul to fish the last tournament of the year. The presure was on for the points lead while Team Caznik was in third place and trying to at least beat out Sixshooter and Dirty Dog. We took off from the docks around 4:30am and started fishing at 5am. We set up lines and the we heard a rip off one of the full cores with a green scally j- plug, but then it sounded like it was gone. Then around 20 minutes later we decided to pull the full core because it just didn't look right at all. Yep, there was a king on. We took our first fish at 60' of water and fish more in the same foot of water for 45 minutes more. Then I decided to go east and go deep to see what was there. Well soons it got day light and we was in 120- 140 foot of water we started then taking hits from fish. One fish came from 80 foot down on the riggers on a glow frog spoon. Then the other fish came down 90 foot on the riggers on the SWR rod with a green scally j-plug. Also more fish went on the full core rods to on all j- plugs. Fishing was very fun with GLF and waterfoul. But let me tell you something, when you yell FISH ON. Both these guys would just jump out of there chairs when I was just joking. Man I bet I said it about ten times and they would jump for a rod. I even remember one time I was just talking and I just happen to say fish and not even being a smart ass about it. Water foul jumps out of his chair thinking there was a fish on that time to. Well after it became 11am I thought maybe we had a chance to win the point lead this year with 4 kings and that nice brown. But we was short and took 2nd place. That was my best finish after three years doing this.

Well good luck fishing the rest of the year. My plans are to put the boat away and get ready to process deer and go hunting with my daughter.

    Caznik

Then I decided to go east and go deep to see what was there.

Great story Cazz but i had to catch the go east and deep part so i was confused LOL

Glad you guys had a great weekend Hope your hunting season goes as well guys

  2. Fished Saturday morning out of Whitehall had a good morning went 6-10 all fish taken between 6.30 and 7.45 am fished till just after 9.00 never had a hit after 8.15 am .All of our fish were between 85-120fow most hit bloody nose spoons on riggers and a white glow fish catcher with a bloody nose fly on the dipsey from 135-144 back on#2 setting.Buddies of mine fished yesterday from 60-100fow and had 4 hits no fish.My brother fished the same water Saturday and only boated one fish with 5 hits. Hopefully the fish aren't scattering all over this time of year:D :D :D :D :D

  3. Good idea on putting the your name and number on the boards.

we just found that out the hard way my brother had a complete plano box blow out of the boat going down the road just stocked with all new lures also.Maybe with a name and number on it we could have gotten it back.Live and learn. There are still good people out ther like as dirtydog found out

  4. 100% of my spoons get new hooks.

I was running Eagle Claw 777's. This is a 4x straight point treble that with with stand Jaws himself, your cant bend one let along straighten one out.

However, I recenetly switched everything to single hooks. I cant along better hook ups and storage sure is alot easier as well. No one tangled mess in the spoon box, I thin I can fit another 100 in there now!

    Dave

dave what single hook do you use?

  5. Fishing was just a blast this morning. We started catching fish around 5.30 and within an hour we had 5 rods in and they all went off.Boated 3-5 of them,We easily took out limit in 40-50 foot of water north of the channel. We ended up 7-13 which we had to toss one back on the last double we had on.Moonshine Flounder Pounder took 90% of the fish the other was a white fish catcher/white glow fly .ALL RIGGER HITS WERE 36 DOWN AND THE CORE WAS ALSO AT 36 DOWN(HAD NINE COLORS ON)

  6. I’m finally getting a chance to write a report for fishing last weekend.

Some of you may have known that the Lake had rolled over last Wednesday down here in St. Joe and that brought some Steelies into the pier heads. I was able to hit the water Friday night and Saturday morning for a few hours. Friday I had lines set by 4:30pm and pulled at 8:00pm went 1 for 4 on the steelies with 3 of them hooking up in the river and 1 off the south pier. On Saturday morning we hit the water and had lines set by 7:00am and pulled them at 10:00am, went 1 for 4 on the steelies again 3 of them hooking up in the river and 1 off the north pier.

On Sunday I headed up to Muskegon to fish the league challenge, in hope of bringing home the wooden fishy. We hit the water around 4:45am and did some water temp searching and found a spot around 2 miles north of the piers in 85 fow. By 5:30 we headed west and started setting lines with 2 riggers down and 2 full core out and trying to get 2 dipsies out, we had the first king take a full core with a Moonshine Yellow Smolt. After getting that line back out the next king was on in a matter of seconds, this time a full core with a Moonshine Flounder Pounder. After this fish was boxed we had about a 15-20 minute low and I was able to set a diver rod and a drop ball. We worked out to 97 fow when the full core Flounder Pounder took off screaming and then a rigger went with a Moonshine Blue Smolt down 58 feet. As we got those 2 fish close to the boat to net the other rigger goes with an EverGlo Wonder Bread J-Plug down 48 feet. With 3 of us in the boat and 3 fish on, no one to net and steer the boat, we decided to place the J-plug rod in the rod holder and forget it. With Kirk fitting a big king that was now in front of the boat and Brett trying to net it, I took the fish that I had on and just grabbed it out of the water and through it on the floor of the boat, I grabbed the J-plug rod and fought that fish to the back of the boat, by this time the big king was out of the net and laying in the bottom of the boat with the first one that I brought in and we were able to net the third fish and through it on the bottom of the boat. What a fire drill that was. From that point on I don’t think we had all 6 lines in the water for more then a few minutes, there was a few times we only had 2 rods in the water. We end up pulling lines at 7:30am boxed out on kings and headed for the shoreline to see if we could pick up a steelhead or brown and to get out of those so called 0-1 foot waves.

We took (2) kings on Moonshine Flounder Pounder full core, (2) kings on Moonshine Yellow Smolt full core, (2) kings on Moonshine Blue Smolt off rigger down 58 feet, (2) kings on EverGlo Wonder Bread J-Plug off rigger down 48 feet and (1) king on Blue Bubble Spin Doctor w/ Chrome Blue/Green cut head off drop ball. Oh! And (1) sheephead on a J-11 orange jointed rap. off (2) color core that thought he was a steelhead by flying 3 feet out of the water when we hook him.

    Nice job Steve Great report

  8. Fished muskegon this morning water has rolled over in the last few days .Fished just north of the pier heads 50-100 foot of water did real well on spinys and flies on both riggers and wire divers.Took the biggest fish on a slider on a 60 foot rigger. My buddies charters this morning limited(12 fish) by around 9.30 same setups only 2 fish out of 12 on the riggers. In 110foot, 80 feet down was around 39-41 degrees. We ended with 5-9 all fish between 14-21lbs.Good luck to all hope this helps.

  9. Fishslayer I have to appologize. It wasn't until my wife read the post and said hey you idiot you didn't answer the guys question he asked about mono.

Well with 25lb mono you want to make ABSOLUTE sure you cut the line clean and don't leave those little clipper spurs on the mono. If you have those little flattened out spurs it catches all the way down the sheathing.

A good sharp pair of finger nail clippers work great.

    thank you again
