Leon Slicker originally worked for Chris Craft, before starting Slickcraft.
He sold out to AMF, and later started Tiara. He bought the Slickraft name back from AMF when they called it quits.
As far as I know there is no connection with the Chris name and Tiara.
The Slicker family still runs Tiara, and the boats are still built in Holland.
I have never heard any thing bad about Chris Craft boats.
This is exactly correct, no direct connection between the 2 companies. Chris Craft have been great boats, as long as it has a solid core It will be a good choice.

Grand Haven launch is on the North side before you get to the draw bridge, I don't think there is a fish cleaning station. I usually fish out of Port Sheldon and I just happened to check how far 200' of water is from the pier heads today. 7.6 mi. according to where I was. We went 1 for 3. 1 nice king on a rigger down 145 in 159 ft. of water. Mountain dew flasher fly. Still a little slow out there.

Thanks for the post Andy. I have fished all my life, but never for salmon on the big pond in my own boat until this year. I have found this site to be an excellent tool to learn tips that have taken people many years to perfect. I can relate to your frustration, but can't wait to get back out and wash lures again. I fish out of Port Sheldon also.

Always makes for an exiting trip with first timers in the boat. Thanks

Thanks for the info. Which side of the scum line took more fish?

Also big skunk for us. Heard your report on the radio and appreciate the helpful chatter. Thought it was going to be a productive day, but seemed slow. Nice job

No question to me! South haven is a great area and an excellent fishery. Tourist trap from June - Sept. but this is only in town. The lake has plenty of elbow room.
Holland - Friday and Saturday labor day weekend
