  1. Just wanted to let you guys know, If Capt Ray {monkeypuke} calls you and asks a question about something on his boat, HANG UP, CHANGE YOUR NUMBER, PULL THE WIRE OUT OF THE WALL . See , Capt Ray called on Sat and asked about some tranny fluid in his bilge, we went over all the scenarios that could be the culprit, He decided to run the boat and keep a close eye on the tranny, Sun morning, I go out to my boat in the driveway, just finished reinstalling the motor and trans and guess what, 3 qts of tranny fluid in the bilge, I THINK HE JINXED ME , Talk about wierd, I know the boat this tranny came from , super low hours, impeccable maintenance and never even a burp from the trans, found the 4 bolts that hold the front pump were loose, this just dosent happen on Velvet Drives, so if he calls you, you were warned

Just kidding Ray, But i thought the forum should know about your powers:D

  2. the problem is most likely the aerated water coming off the bottom of the transom, Ive never had much better luck speed wise than either of you, for best performance go to a thru hull, with both units I use, a Furuno and a Si-Tex, i can keep bottom contact at any speed, the thru hull runs in less turbulent water, all you have to do is drill a 2 inch hole through the bottom of a perfectly good boat---------

  3. just wanted to add, if you dont want to poke holes in the boat, use 3m 5200 sealant to bond the board to the boat, that way all the holes are in the plastic and not your boat, be forewarned, if you ever want to remove it , Good Luck

  4. I just hooked up with 2 boatless friends, we split the slip 3 ways and all expenses 3 ways, so it will be affordable for all of us, if I had to pay for gas and dockage and all the other crap, Id probably use my boat 2 times a summer, and the sad fact is I have no car , boat or credit card payments and make decent wages, like James Carville said in the Clinton days, " its the economy stupid "

  5. Mike, you got a helluva boat, now spend some more money on a Flocscan or Navman fuel use guage, mine paid for itself more than once, along with a GPS you can find the most efficient cruising speed, I try to run about 2900 rpms, only lost 4 mph from 3100, BUT, I use 6.0 less gph. At 2900 I burn 11 GPH at a bit over 25 mph, Thats better than 2 mpg, and Im not bitchin about that with a a big block and 7000 lbs of boat, these numbers may be off a few tenths as Im old and am relying on memory, or lack thereof

  6. Welcome to aboard Matt! Thanks for taking the time and doing an introduction. Cooper is very close to where I live. I live one mile South of Bittersweet Ski Resort.

We look forward to seeing you around and your fishing reports ;)

What the hell are you taking about >

    skiing in michigan ??????????????

  7. Not being in your area, so I cant supply any names, but, any good body shop can refinish your boat, a few years ago, I painted about 20 Lunds due to peeling paint, most tin boat companies use automotive paints, you may have to get the formulas from Starcraft. For the Lunds I did, some colors were proprietary, but they were able to supply me with a PPG number, If you want to drag it to nw PA [ yea right] ill be glad to fix it for you

  8. Just thought Id offer a ride to anyone wanting to fish the central basin of Erie for walleye or perch,, I fish out of Conneaut, Ohio, all you have to do is show up sober, Im normally docked by memorial day, while the fight isnt as good as silver fish, the eatin is a helluva lot better, although, on alot of last summers trips, we had double digit steelie numbers, the centeral basin is a fantastic steelie fisherie, on a few days we specifically targeted them in august we had over 25 hookups per day,

  9. Captain Bill, I saw you had a 24 Penn Yan, your gonna love no motor box, The 26 and 28 have about the same amount of rear deck, youl could have a square dance on one of these boats, its possible to comfortably fish 8-10 aboard my boat and yours is a foot wider, Im just glad I only have to feed 1 motor, the initial spring fillup is a shocker, $460 last year and yours has more tankage, Damn nice boat you got yourself, I think I might be gettin feet itis after seeing your pics

  10. I was running 5 Big Jons till some lowlife needed them more than me last fall, looks like 3 new Scottys will be on the boat for fall, Ill use the manual Walkers im getting from caznik for the summer. Being most of my fishing is on Erie, I run big boards and dipseys, I currently am set up with a 5 rod holder for the boards and 3 dipsey holders on each side, ever see 16 lines tangled, LOL, I have, Im almost done with a new Radar arch with 16 rocket launchers, I built it with 1.5 in 6061 aluminum pipe, all tig welded and will be clear powder coated, with a provision for my new open array radar, Im sorta an equipment junkie and am always adding or replacing stuff, Ill post new pics with all the goodies after I launch this spring
