This is my actual "Littleboat" a 16 -1/2 ft Crestliner Sport Angler. I use both on the big lake, but  the smaller, I use for walleye and perch on the little lakes and rivers.

The reason I purchased my Crestliner is because my fishing buddy had a boat identical to yours. We fished the devil out of that boat for 15 years. It is a great multi species platform.

  2. King fishing remains good. Went 8-11 this morning in South Haven. 6 Kings and two Coho. Fished the same area all morning.  NW troll out and SW back in slightly north of pier in 100' - 120' of water.  Rinse and repeat. 110' was the best. Full core and 200 cu with the same warrior "whammy" UV standard spoon remains hot for the second week in a row taking four fish between them. Tin can dodger modified with green prizim tape and chrome and green spin and glow took one and lost one on a SWR DR down 70'. UV mag NBK spoon took a 18.7 king on 300 cu and same spoon on 200cu took another. Moonshine RV flounder pounder on a SWR DR down 60' took one. Lost both of my RV flounder pounders, one broke off on the DR and the other on 300 cu.  Dipseys divers (#3 - 175 back) running either meat rigs or spoons did nothing.

Great catch.  We've managed to pull a few kings out of the water this week out of port sheldon.  Are you guys seeing any food in the bellies of the fish you're catching?

Not sure. The fish cleaning station was a zoo. Folks waiting in line, so I was focused on getting it done. People do say the ones they are getting have full bellies.

  4. Fished this morning until about 1:30 with Dan Agnello and Denny Laskowsky. Went 11 for 18. 7 nice kings, 3 coho and a laker. Took fish from 100' to 135'. Spent most of our time going in and out of 120'-130' slightly NW of pier. Moonshine RV Flounder Pounder on a SWR set up on two DR's running 65' and 75' down, white/green spin doctor meat rig combo on a dipsey diver set on #3 back 175 and full core with a standard Warrior Elite UV "Whammy" spoon took most of the fish.

  5. Went 7-8 In South Haven today. 19 and 9.5 lb kings, balance lakers. Fished from 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Worked in 45 to 70 feet of water primarily around the South Haven Buoy with 65 feet the best water depth. SOG around 3.0 +/- and around 2.1 +/- at the ball.  Slow start to the day. Nothing in the first two hours. Had the water colum covered with our nine rods and a mix of colors and sizes of spoons, a Mag Lip and a couple dodger/spin and glows.  Tin can dodger modified with some green prizim tape and a green/chrome spin and glow on a SWR running 5-10 off the bottom all day took two and the missed fish. Pulled dipseys and replaced them with 200 cu and small pink alewife colored spoons that took three fish. Put down more small pink alewife looking spoons.  Full core took another fish and the big king hit a 1/2 core.

  6. We went 7-8, in St. Joe yesterday, but had to pull lines early because someone (me) forgot to gas up the boat when he put it away last fall. I always gas up the boat before I put it in storage, so I checked everything but the gas in the boat as I was getting it ready for the first trip of the year. Trolled south from the pier heads. Steady action between 18-30 ft of water. Started out with a mix of small spoons, dodgers and peanut fly, jointed crank baits and a wiggle wart, but went to 3.5 mag lips after it went twice. Metallic gold flame was the hot lure with copper/black bill and flouresent orange/black spots also taking fish.

What did it set you back and how long were you without the boat?

Sent from my SM-G935V using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App

I wish I could remember. It was a few years ago. I had two previous places lined up to do the work. One never could get it in - kept putting me off and the other said he could do it then backed out because he felt it was beyond what he could do, so I know I would get the price confused. I want to say $1,200. Get a quote if your interested. Seems like I dropped it off and he wanted it for a week.

  8. Fished out of turtle creek on Friday from the B can to Niagara Reef. Mostly ran deep diving thundersticks in various colors 10 to 20 ft down - all caught fish. However, a newly purchased bandit (copper clown) and chartreuse/purple thunderstick out fished all others. Caught more sheepshead than you would like, but not too bad, just a couple of white bass and 7 nice walleye - very few undersized walleye.

Fished west out of Catawba State Park on Saturday to the G can using more newly purchased bandits. Purple nipple and a pink/perch color were best. Caught a bunch of walleye, too many to keep count of and the usual assortment of farm animals (Sheep).  Quite a few undersized toss backs and at least one good sized fish. Kept another seven.

Decided the better part of valor was to get out of the wind on Sunday, so we spent two hours fishing in close east of Catawba Island. Same bandit program as Saturday.  Kept three.

All in all, not a bad trip for old salmon fishermen from West Michigan in relatively unfamiliar waters. Had around 2 1/2 gal zip lock bags full of fillets. Even had a chance to run out to Put in Bay for a burger and beer. Here are a few photos.

  9. Fished south haven this morning and caught the last two kings in the lake. 1/2 dozen lakers to boot.

Went 10-14. Had to toss the last laker back along with a small coho. Fished north of pier. 60-90 ft of water. North-northwest troll was best.

Pink alewife spoon on 200 cu took the big King, green uv spin doctor/meat rig on 150 cu took the other.  One laker came on DR/SWR with uv blue dolphin, but most hit on a pearl uv dodger/matching spin & glow. DRs were up and down to keep within 5 - 10 ft of the bottom.  Had a hard time keeping a small jäger bomb spoon on on a full core in the water.
