  1. If you plan on going out into Lake Michigan I would say a minimum of 25 feet and with kids safety in mind 27+. Smaller boats you will not be able to travel out very far unless you really pick and choose your days. I spent 15 years fishing Lake Michigan and the past 8 years in the Gulf of Mexico. I can honestly say Lake Michigan is much more dangerous than the Gulf. Of coarse you can only buy what you can afford but if buying a used boat take it to a good mechanic prior to the purchase. It may cost you a few hundred dollars but safe you thousands in the long run. Always remember what BOAT stands for Break Out Another Thousand :)

  2. Salmon Unlimited of Indiana's March meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2014 at the Indiana Harbor Yacht Club, located off Cline Avenue and the lakefront in East Chicago. Jim (Spawn Bag) Forrest will be the Featured Speaker. Jim (Spawn Bag) Forrest is a Creek fishing Guru!! P.S. Also a darn good big lake fishermen as well so this is a seminar that will be packed with info on how, where, when, and what to use from early spring thru winter when fishing the creeks. This will be a meeting that you will not want to miss. So, get a couple buddies and come on out and learn a few new techniques that could help you put a few more fish in the box for this upcoming season. A tackle raffle will follow the meeting.
