  1. Our Coho Candy flies have been picked up by a distributor on the Michigan side. You should start to see them in the stores. If not you can ask and they will be available to the stores. Our top 2 sellers of the Coho Candy are the Blue Green & Gold Crinkle and Mardi Gras. The blues and greens in general sell very well as well as the white crinkle and mirage.

  2. Took a couple buddies out today and we got our limit in an hour and a half! Went east right out of the harbor set down in 30 fow and pointed it south. We ran a spread of 00 LJ dodgers and Coho candy. Speed was 2.3 on the paddle wheel. Before we got to the nuke plant we had our limit. Best colors today were Purple Ice, White Crinkle and Mardi Gras. If you can make it out go get some.

  3. Went out this evening with my wife and 3 boys. We et up in 70 fow just n of the line and trolled ne. Fishing was not fast but we took enough hits to keep the boys interested. We wound up 5 for 7 all kings with some decent size. We tried trolling s but only took 1 hit the rest came on a n troll with the wind. Best speed was 2.7 mph. Riggers were set from 35 to 65 down. We had a steel head hit the rigger that was down 35 and start jumping at the back of the boat. We did not land the fish but the kids got a kick out of the fish going crazy right in front of them. Set ups that took fish were:

0 LJ smoke dodger Powder Bubble Trophy 45 down on rigger

Fishlander sister sledge on a fullcore

#4 purple and silver J-Plug on a fullcore

11 in. chrome prochip Holo Hypnotist Trophy 65 down on a rigger

8 in. green prochip Bluegreen Hypnotist Trophy wire diver out 100

  4. 5-19-06 Took a friend out for an afternoon trip and found the fishing a little slow. We decided to setup in 80 fow and trolled se. We worked out to about 150 finding a fish here and there. We wound up going 7 for 7. An 11in. chrome prochip pulling a holo hypnotist trophy took 3 of the fish. Every trip out this year this has been our best rod. We have been running it as our deepest rigger usually down at least 100 feet. A purple people eater spoon also took 2 fish. We wound up with 3 coho 2 lakers and 2 kings.

5-20-06 Fished The SU Tournament with my son and a buddy. We headed se out of the harbor and sat down in 130 to set lines. We started trolling s to se and began catching coho riht away. We wound up trolling almost to the south reef and had 13 of our 15 fish with no big ones. Again our best setup was the 11in. prochip taking 4 fish including 2 kings and 2 lakers. No other setup took more than 2 fish. We did catch 2 coho on a #3 silver bullet j-plug on a half core. A fishlander sister sledge also took 2 coho. Various flasher & dodger flies took the rest of the coho. I do not know how we placed in the tournament but I woulg guess middle of the pack. Again a well run tournament with a great bunch of guys.

  5. I think it had a lot to do with the fishing slowing down. I told the guys when they wanted to go not to expect the same action we have been having. I think the reason we did as well as we did was because we have been fishing over deep water. If it had been a shalow bite and we went back to the same spots that were producing before the big blow I don't think we would have done as well.

  6. Took some friends out sat morning and was hoping the fish were still going like crazy. Well they were still going but the action slowed from past weeks. We set up in 130 west of the south reef and headed east. We trolled back and forth over the reef and had a steady pick with only one double. Surface temp was around 41 and we found fish from 100 feet down to the top 20 fow. We also took fish from 105 to 170 fow and could not find a set pattern. All fish came on dodger or flasher flie combos with the exception of 1 coho on a #3 silver j-plug. We wound up going 13 for 17. The hottest set up was a 8in. green glow prochip pulling a bluegreen hypnotist trophy fly out 220 on a wire dipsey. This setup again took the largest fish a 7 pound king. The cohos are definatley getting chunkier as we took 4 in the 5# range. We also took a fish on one of opti tackles new inticer flashers in black with crushed glow tape on one side with silver on the other pulling a purple embossed trophy fly.

  7. Went out this morning with my 3 boys and a buddy. Launched the boat at about 7:00 a.m. and headed se to 130 were we started to set up. The first rigger was set down 103 with an 11 in. prochip and holo hypnotist trophy flie. This rigger fired by the time we had the second rigger out and landed a 9# king. This rigger went of 4 more times while setting lines and took 3 more kings about the same size and a laker. We were finally able to get the other rods out and it was time for the wire dipseys to start taking off. They were set at 220 out with 8in. prochips and trophy flies in mirage and bluegreen hypnotist. This setup took the largest fish of the day, a 13.3# king. This was one of the better spring days I can remember because not only did we hammer the coho but the kings were firing as well. We wound up 25 for 28 with 1 steely, 2 lake trout, 9 kings and 13 coho. To many details to keep going but a day we will not soon forget.

  8. Took my dad, brother and 3 boys perchin out of Waukegan. Day started out good but got real windy quick. We did O.K. taking 25 before getting blown off. We fished 50 to 55 fow just east of the harbor. My youngest caught what I think was a dogfish. Any one know what it is (pic below)? My oldest had a double on a crappie rig.

Not sure how to post pictures here?

  9. Went out today with my oldest Matt and his buddy Joey. Set up in about 125 fow se of Waukegan. Stareted trolling east and did not get bit untill we hit about 180. Went out to 215 and picked up about 5 on the way out. We wound up trolling east and west between 180 and 210 going 17 for 20. Riggers were the ticket today boating most of the fish. Best setup was a 11in. chrome prochip pulling a holo hypnotist trophy fly on a rigger down 123. Boated 4 fish on this setup including a 15# king. The other riggers were pulling a 4in. prochip with a mardi gras coho candy and 00 dodgers with blue green and gold coho candy. The fishing was awesome today once we got deep, we caught all our fish in less than 2 hours.
