  1. A decent run went up the PM the first week of August, we hit 9 kings on a blow day in PM Lake on August 5th.  At the time, I thought we got lucky timing a small early run that happens every year but based on fishing since then, I now think that was the major push. There was cold water on the beaches, ton of marks in the lake and a lot of boats and jiggers were hitting fish. I kayaked the PM last weekend from Bowman to Sulak with the family and we saw kings everywhere. Fishing was dismal in Ludington today from some friends I spoke with. Some great captains had poor catches. Can't say it is lake wide but I think the peak between the Sable Points is behind us. Bummer with Labor Day coming, it is usually real good there but I'm adjusting my expectations downward.  Your reports from Pentwater didn't help. ?

Slow weekend.  We went south Friday off the project. Started in 90 feet of water working out to 150. We hit 2 fish and boxed one in the first  two hours. Then we took a long west troll out 10 miles and hit 3 fish the entire troll and did not land any. Fish came on a moonshine moonshine on a 200 copper. A dw super slim Carmel dolphin on a 225 copper. One hit on a raspberry MS carbon 14 on a rigger down 60.

On Saturday, we went north and set up shallow off the bathhouse in 30 ft of water. Nothing in there. We finally got a fish when we moved out to 100ft. We trolled north 3 miles of Big Sable Point and ended up 2 for 4.  Hit fish on a pearl spotted plug on a half core.  A MS green shorts on a rigger down 50 ft.  A yeck jerid on a 150 copper and a black slick spin doctor and pickled sunshine fly on a hi diver out 150. After all the action, we decided to sleep in on Sunday.

Finally got my new boat mostly rigged and on the water. We started off the project working 100 to 140ft of water. We got 3 trout there, 2 off riggers on the bottom with a crome spin doctor with a green/chart wirly gig and one off a mag low diver out 240ft with a tin can dodger and green/chrome dw wirly gig. We pulled lines and ran west 6 miles and set up on the 37 line had a good bite out to the 39 line working in and out. We hit 9 fish there but only landed 3 of them.  Hit and lost a nice king.  We boxed a steelhead, coho and laker there. Fish came on a MS sarge on a 300 copper, a yeck fireball on a 150 copper, a yeck jerid on a 200 copper and the same fish doctor and dodger went out there too. Also hit one on a 10 inch white/chrome spin doctor and blue fairways fly.

  4. Bummer on the forecast, hope NOAA is wrong on that.  They are wrong a lot.   We are not fishing the tourney this year since Friday will be our first trip on my new boat.    Glad to share how we do, maybe it can help you guys.  I hate missing it but I got delayed with the autopilot and didn't want to enter it never having fished this boat yet.   My crew this weekend is not experienced either.
