  1. Nick you are absolutely correct, and I work at one of the worlds largest machine/job shops, time was when a 6 pack and a fishing trip would get you anything you needed fabrication included.

But (here at least)now the salvage companies have contracted with everyone in town for their scrap metals. Even banding straps... and garage mechanics don't stand a chance.:(

    Update:

Paul, lets hold off on the plate for now, I was talking with a guy this morning, who has some 6" flat stock and he might have a piece we can saw to length.

    Thanks guys..

  2. The 30 minute videos are great for me.

Would they be available in .mobi? I like checking in on my phone and that would be a sweet deal when I'm riding somewhere, or stuck in port because of a storm, or shopping with the wife etc...

    thanks

  3. I am in need of an extra sliding plate for a Model #01-2424 Cabela's 90" Downrigger Mounting Bar. This is the plate that slides into the track and you mount the downrigger or whatever to it.

I tried contacting Cabelas, but they are not responding in a timely manner. Does anybody have an extra plate you could part with, or know where I might be able to get one made?

I'll post the dimensions in the morning...

    Thanks,

  4. So I was up in St. Joe a couple of weeks back and went across the river to the Benton Harbor public launch, and there's a round-about right in the middle of the road...

How's that going to work when trailering a boat through there? Right on Main Street (I think it is also Business 96??)

That just seemed crazy to me. I typically use the launch on that side because of the shallow water coming in from the St Joe side can be a little tricky.

Has anyone pulled their boat through those yet? Care to share your experience?

I'll bet that's going to be fun in summer traffic....

  5. You might try this check this place out: http://www.theboulevardinn.com/ (never stayed there personally, but been by it a lot.)

I believe Wolf's marine (www.wolfsmarine.com) in St Joe/ Benton Harbor has their open house this weekend. I'm hoping to drive up on Saturday and get a couple of things to prep the boat for spring.

The rest of you guys will think I'm crazy but we actually slept in the motor home at the Benton Harbor boat launch a couple years back so we could be on the water by day break... once, only once..

  6. A couple years ago I bought one of those Keeper Deluxe poly Ice fishing chairs that have the rod compartment in the back. it holds my combo's very neatly (but I only use up to 28" inc rods because I fished in Shappell 2000 back then (have since upgraded to the 4000)

Now they offer the rod storage compartment by itself as a bucket back.

You can see them here: http://www.thekeepersite.com/

    They have worked for me.

    Good luck!
