  1. I have a 23' Baha gle and am having a Yamaha 9.9 high thrust put on here in a couple of weeks. I have a Bravo 3 outdrive with hydraulic steering. I am contemplating the ez-steer or the panther electro steer. I am really leaning towards the ez- steer does anyone out here have this set-up and have anything good, bad or indifferent to say about it? I am also looking at the Trollmaster, any comments on the two would be appreciated. I want to do it right the first time i do it.

  2. just went to Happy Days in Port Clinton and got everything ordered. I ended up getting a new 2007 Yamaha 9.9 high thrust from them for $2400. Bass Pro just wouldn't deal any on the merc. pro-kicker and you dont get bass pro reward points when you buy a motor or boat from them. which kind of ticked me off. But anyways i am getting the kicker installed and out the door for $4750. That includes the panther mounting bracket and the panther t4 electro steer.

  7. other temp and speed brands"

what other brands are there out there for speed and temp sensors at the ball? i know of the moor speed troll, the fish hawk and the depth raider. which as i understand all require the coated cable. are there any brands out there that use a transducer to send the signal back and forth? besides the above mentioned three are there any out there that you guys really like? thanks for the input and help

  9. thanks guys i talked with curt for about an hour last night and he gave me some direction and i will try to explain as i hope it helps everyone. i have mine rigged with the walker clincher method with the tail and terminal end on it. i was getting poor results over 65 ft. bring it up to 55 and would work ok. he has suggested going out and reducing speed to trolling speed and putting the probe and ball down to 80 ft. run it till i loose data then bring it up to 55-60ft. till it runs consistently. then run it back down tio 80ft. as soon as it looses data turn the boat motor off. if it pops back on it's an interference issue with the boat batteries. take and turn the boat battery switch to #1 and if it works keep the battery on #1 position while trolling. if it doesn't work try position #2 if it works troll on position #2 and the when running back and forht to port put batteries back on both to charge them up. if this doesn't work he suggested taking a piece of 16ga. wire approx. 15 ft. and put a terminal end on it and connect it to the neg. side of the battery that the depth raider is hooked to on the other end put a lead drop(ie. bottom bouncer) and drop that end in the water. if this works it's a boat to water ground issue and i need to get the outdrive grounded to the water. i have not tried these yet as i won't b back up till thurs. hope this helps someone. i will let everyone know how it works out. it would be nice if they had put all these tips in a trouble shooting section of the manual.

  10. "ludington report"

fished out of ludington the 13th thru the 16th

thurs night- went 2 for 4 both over 18 came on glow green j's fished straight out on the 35 line

fri.- same area went 4 for 5 really nice size and again on j's

sat. a.m.- went a little north on the 33 line went 7 for 8 with my first 20lbr. it went 22.5lbs. once again all on j's that glow green and a couple on the black lightning

sat p.m.- went 3 for 4 using same plugs and have totell this story. it's 10:15 time to pull lines i grab the high diver to clear it and it won't release. clear all other lines and it's not tangled have to turn the boat and go after it a ton on tension on it. get the dipsie up to the boat and it's tangled in coopper. get the tangle cut out start handlining the copper in and theres a fish on it and he didn't like the color of my boat. he ran 3 times and each time we handlined it back in with of course all 4 guys on one side of the boat watching. finally get it to the boat a third time and it swims under the boat as it comes back out my buddy sticks the net straight down and it finally swims into the net. it was 21 lbs. with a nice new ace high in it's mouth

sun a.m.- fished to the north again went 3 for 4 all j's. had the lucky j from the 21lber out and a big king jumped across the low diver and the rigger cable and took the lucky j with him.

all in all a verry good weekend this was the best i had ever done on my boat with my own gear as i just started salmon fishing last year with my own boat and gear. and one other side note the guys fishing with me had never salmon fished before so i had to hold school and they did great. thanks scott, dave and mel it was a blast.

went something like 18 for 24 approx.

  11. "depth raider or something else HELP!!!!!!!!"

i bought the depth raider in may and have used it several times and at several depths and have installed it every possible way and i still am not getting the performance out of it that i should. i know that below 120ft. that it may go out every now and then but evertime i put it down to the depth i want lets say 80-100 ft. it will work for 15-20 minutes the go out. i raise the ball 5 ft. it will come back on for 3-5 min. then go out. raise the ball 5-10 ft. work for 3-5min. then go out raise the ball 5-10ft. will work for 3-5 min. and go out and on and on. i have installed it every possible way including word for word in the installation manual. any suggestuions from you guys would be great. i am getting ready to call curt at kell. and if i can't get it working i am taking it back to cabelas and going to shop for something else. does anyone know if cannon still makes the speed-n-temp? i can't seem to find it as a complete package just replacement sensors or monitors?

  12. "locks for riggers"

ok here goes, lets see how good you guys really are.

i have all big jon equipment and am looking for some type of locking system for the riggers and the trolling bars.

i am going to be leaving the boat up in ludington for the month of august and running back and forth from toledo on the weekends and leaving the boat in a local storage area and i would like to sleep a little better at night knowing that i at least have them locked. anyone have any suggestions?

    thanks
