  1. Last year I switched one of my braid divers to a wire diver and was running one side wire and the other side braid. Our wire diver easily out produced the braid diver last season. For the most part I only ran the two divers and generally the braid was set up to run a little shallower than the wire diver so that may have been part of issue. This year though I will be running two wires, I like fighting fish better on wire anyway.

  2. Hello all, great site. I use thin wall aquarium rigged tube to tye to and soft tubing over the top. Siggs is a great place for mylar, beads, and silicon skirt. I have some of the new band-a-boo from Curt but don't have any water time on it. The 3/16 inch riggid lets my knots go through so I can change fly's. A favorite color 3 years running on the bank reef has been dark green/red fleck silicon over 1 1/2 inch crushed ice mirage then 2 inches of LBB behind a white flasher(Hotspot/E-chip).

I also fish the Bank, how often do you make it over there. Good to here from another member that fishes the same area.

  3. Does the Howie super copper spool the same as std. copper ????? Anything different with it re-spooling letting it out , amt. of drag, etc. Thanks

The super copper does spool much nicer than the standard copper, but you still have to be careful when letting it out. Usually when putting out my copper I will tighten the spool tension so the spool can't spool freely. After it is out far enough to pull line on its own I will loosen the tension and start using the drag to regulate how fast the line is coming off the spool.

How much depth per 100. Any difference from the old copper

I have asked the guys at Howie if there was a difference in sink rate with the super copper and they said there was not. Here is a depth chart that was posted in a previous thread. Hope this helps.

  4. If I were to run all three as a presentation I am assuming the Boards would be set first closest to the bow, and then the dipsies would follow?

    Thanks Again

    Troy

Yes, that would be correct. You should have your board rods the farthest foreword followed by the dipsies in the middle and you riggers in the back. Good luck and welcome to the site.

  5. I also went to 11' rods to so I can run longer leads. I never thought about letting them runout the drag. I think that will sounds like a solution. If I try to put out 4 later this year Can I use the same size divers set on 3 or do I need to use smaller ones.

If you want your divers to have a little more separation you can use two different sizes but using the same size would not be a problem.

  6. Nice looking flies ITO! You have inspired me to try and make some of my own spoon imitating flies. The one on the left is a NBK and the other is a Flounder Pounder. The Flounder Pounder doesn't look like much in the light but the skirt glows light green and the beads glow light blue.

  7. My dad has the Panther steering system on his boat and he has had his issues with it. On one occasion the bracket connecting the kicker to the steering unit rattled loose while trolling. We also had a number of occasions when we turned to motor and it would not turn back the other direction. Believe me that is not something you want to happen when you have a full spread of lines out! When it is working good it is a nice unit, especially when there are only one or two guys on the boat, but personally I think I would rather have the EZ Steer.

  8. A friend suggested that I not use any more than 10 feet of leader, which supposedly takes advantage of the copper attraction. Seems awful short to me.

Has anyone else found the short leader on copper to be more effective?

Sounds like an interesting concept... May be something to experiment with this year.

Generally I run about 30' to 50' of leader.

  9. I was assured that i will be notified in advance of any super great sales in the future and will be sure to pass the info along.

That would be awesome. I use any excuse I can get to go to Gander. I could spend an hours just looking at stuff that I have looked at a hundred different times. Unfortunately the Gander in my home town has a very limited selection (not many people salmon fishing in central WI). Thanks
