  1. Sorry for the late report, but I gots things to do when I get home from a weekend of fishing....hahaha

Went out Saturday night set lines at 7pm North of Whitehall, action didn't start until sunset, I was able to set my New coppers 300 and 150's.. Although my new TX-44's are still poppin wheelies (I think it's the boat, not sure).

First hit came on Evil Elfwive, small Laker on 150 copper, then another small laker on 150 copper, had a double going lost one of the lakers though..

12# steelie on Super glow blue dolphin down 55 Feet in 142 FOW off the rigger, Had a steelie on a wire line dipsey...took me about 5 launches out of the water to realize He hadn't even tripped the dipsey yet, 6 launch out he was Gone...

THen last of the evening 10:30pm ready to pull lines, the 22# King Hit a wire line dispey, I wasn't going to lose this monster, so I let HIM fight and pull and tire himself out, took 30 minutes but got it into the cooler....

All in ALL went 5 for 9, lost a few pieces of equipment.. Damn Steelie !!! and I'm going to make all new leaders, had a Big King take some equipment off a Rigger line for me...

Good News is.... I was able to set all 8 lines for the first time...isn't that Special..???

  2. Awesome dude I hate our fish finder , now I can see them there fish laughing at us and pointing to the back of the boat . Plus when the admiral driving the boat sees fish on the finder she turns into a foul mouth deadliest catch captain !!!!

  3. Jim you are correct I can't get my boards very far outside because they are popping wheelies. I'm pulling 300 ft of copper with the tx22 and I think it's too small . When I see other boats pulling boards they are way outside ...... Mine aren't but 30 feet out from the stern to port or starboard . The nose of the board isn't eve in the water at all and the weight is full to the nose of the board . I'm getting 44s this weekend and saving these for a 150 copper setup. What do you think Jim ???

  4. Got out around 6:30pm, set the parking brake around 6:45pm. Trolled for 15 minutes up and down heading north in isle 14 .... Finally got a hit in 50 FOI went 10 for 10 put all 2x6x8s in the cart then headed south for the big ones . Threw out Gold American Express , seemed to be the color they wanted and the lines started ripping with the first being a 4x4x8, looks like we were on a pod cusse 9 more were in the cart before we pulled lines and headed back out to the truck . Got them all home safe cleaned them and screwed them together .yhe5u4em.jpg

Raised bed for strawberries , I'm having withdrawals as you all can tell.

  5. You all know I just started using copper and I only have 300 feet of copper on each reel, but what do I do when I want to running shorter coppers and I still cannot get my boards to stop poppin wheelies and I've moved the weight all the way forward . Should I get 200 copper maybe 100 coppers.

  6. don't know about the fouled hook, but I do you ball bearing stainless swivels, again it might not have not been securely fastened, but it wasn't in the mood for turning around either, Experience is the key, although I did not jump right up and tighten the drag, I did however try to slow his roll....but the reel just kept sqealing louder and he just kept pulling hard away from me, so I decided to let him run, should have put it in neutral, but 30 seconds later I had a double on the wire line dipsey... of which I lost too...No biggie that's why they call it fishing.

  7. Lost a monster to a swivel on Saturday , first topic of discussion is to the pros....

How in the hell do you change the direction of the fish or slow it down in order to survive being spooled ?

And what size swivels are you using throughout your spread ???

I know it was a swivel malfunction because the only thing to return was my flasher board and no leader , no swivel on the end of the board either.

Maybe I didn't get it closed all the way , one never knows this answer because it cannot be studied after the fact due to lack of evidence . Let me know your thoughts .
