  1. No excuse for this happening..

Has any one else noticed that the last 7 pier parkings were enclosed cabins and low lught and fog.

I wonder if its a glar issue on the wi.dshields from interior lights.

i do not have a wind shield and can see the dark section of the pier at night with no problem.

I got to see a aluminum cabin boat almost clear up & over the south pier between the light and shore. I just have a hard time comprehending something like this

Good Point Steve. Every pick of boats on piers seem to be hardtop fiberglass. I guess if ur gonna park there ya wanna be comfy!!!

  2. Finally got a chance to fish and its not windy. Fishwhisperer and my buddy Bird joined me and set lines around 830 ended around 130. Ended up 19 for 21. 13 Kings and 6 Ho's. 165-170fow was the best. NW troll by far best. 300' Copper with MS Blue Smolt was HOT. 400' copper, riggers down 80-100 with Chrome Frog SD w/ Mtn. Dew took a bunch, Wire divers out 250' with Mag dipsy and Grn Spinnies. Couple doubles and a few nice tangles. Lots of nice chunky kings. Couldn't buy fish number 15 so we pulled and had 5 Ho's on. :lol:Had a great morning with good buddies!

  3. Rarely- South Haven

    Yes- Manistee

Seems to work better up north for me. Haven't ran much down south.

1.8-2.2 GPS. I adjust for current and upwind vs. downwind.

So this might be good when dropping trash cans and wobbles at these slower speeds.

  4. Kinks in wire... not good. It's a weak spot and eventually it will fail there. I spool up with 1000' and have always just cut back where the kinks are. Last summer I lost like 2 or 3 entire dipsy setups and finally decided to ditch that wire and respool. The old stuff had lots of kinks and always curly cued up at the end. Another thing to avoid kinks is always have the line tight. I put a bead before the swivel and also reel it in all the way to the tip always--when a fish is coming in, or when I'm storing the rod too.

Great points. I add a 3" piece of surgical tubing or old snubber between the bead and swivel so I can reel it up tight without too much pressure on tip. Wire is expensive but I know a mag dipsy, snubber, leader, flasher and meat rig with teasers cost us about $70 when it broke at a kink. Thats alot of wire!

  5. Didnt keep track of percentage but I had a great year as we normally fish only 2 guys. 2 kings over 20# landed on my boat. Didnt get to fish after Sept 1st due to school. 1st trip of the year was a 10 fish limit in March and last trip was 12 fish with 2 release for 2 man limit Sept.1st.

Fished 4 ports (SH, St Joe, Lud, Manistee)this year and limited out 3 of 4 the 1st trip!

Great year and new boat is a fishing machine for a 17 footer.
