Big Weenie and John King's are both great products. Black mamba, green frog, white/crystal are all great producers.

What is your guys favorite method for late fall walleye. I have had good success in early fall (middle/late October) trolling big body baits shallow on Portage Lake, but have never been out this late in the year for walleye. My deer tags are filled so I gotta find an exscuse to get out on the water. Any help would be appreciated on depth, speed, rigs etc.
Thanks,
Chris

In WI sliders do count as another line.
Did not know that. Thanks.

You can essentially do the same thing with fixed, or free sliders, and it doesn't cost you a line in the water. Or a nasty tangle. Just my two pennies.

Looks great, but scary. If you can stay untangled and net fish I am impressed. Not bashing you. I just like the back of my boat open. You never know when a big king is going to decide to go every direction but towards the net.

Where did you find these for $150 a pair? I might make a drive.

Out of sunlight and kept dry? Try bending/twisting it around. If it's turned brittle you will be able to tell. Cut off a two foot section and tie a couple loop knots in both ends. Hook one to a nail and another to a fish scale and pull till it breaks. That will give you a decent idea of it's worth. I would not be surprised if it's still good to go.

Another vote for Big Jon Capt's Paks.

This would explain why I keep catching 51 pound kings with meat rigs in their mouths. Of course I am using 52 lb. test.

They usually hit the South pier at Ludington.
It's almost always the south pier here in Manistee.

I know there is a set of Big Jon Brutes (downriggers) for sale here on this site for $350 each. You will NOT find a better deal on some excellent riggers.

Another vote for Riverside Charters. Paul is a great guy, great boat and puts fish in the box. www.Riversidecharters.com
A few other highly recommended would be Trout Scout, Killin' Time and Pier Pressure.
Good luck,

Mike (GLF) had his Amberjack for sale on here. Don't know if it sold or not, but looked like a nice rig. Take a walk up and down your local boardwalks and marinas. Lots of rigs for sale.

I doubt it...Lots of fish being caught way offshore yet. And some big ones too. From what i hear, its just starting, so id say we have a long ways to go.
I completely agree. Should be nice fish well into September.

Great job guys. Sorry I wasn't able to fish with you, but give me a shout next time around.

Tell her you need it to go with the bigger house you are buying for her. Then buy the boat and tell her the new house if full of termites and there is no way you would let her live in a house like that. Might just work.

First ones that came to mind were caramel dolphin the NBK. Both have put a lot of fish in the box over the years.

I like a lot of fisherman I believe.
I know that this was a typo, but it cracked me up.
As far as starting points if I'm not fishing on a regular basis and have them somewhat patterned, then it all comes down to networking. I have a select few friends (some charter capt's/some not) that I can go to for up to date, accurate information. And in turn they know that they can hit me up anytime for the same. These are people that I trust, and they trust me in turn. Nothing is more valuable than that when it comes to accurate information.
There are also hotspots that I have figured out over the years that can turn on given the time of year.
And sometime I just "trust my gut" and try various areas and baits. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but either way I learn something.
Hope this helps,
Chris

Love that brown. Would be on my wall for sure. Good job Jim.

Stupid divers. Why can't they just use GPS like we do for marking fishing spots?
I do (although most days I don't consider myself stupid), but some don't own them. I agree though, if that is a wreck, it should be better marked than a small detergent bottle.

Im sure we will have the lake top ourselves.
Yup, I'm sure you will.......

Wow, I'm surprised I didn't hear about it up here. Was he on a charter/private? Boat name? Would love to track down the info on it, beacuse that's a pig!! I have been pulling low 20 pound fish consistantly here for some time now, and was just saying to my buddy the other night that there will be some 30#s taken out of this port this year. Sincere congrats to your friend, great fish!

Happy Holidays to everyone at BW, as well as everyone else. I'll be looking forward to trying out some of those new rigs next year. Anyone than can re-invent the wheel gets a big thumbs up from me. How long till spring!?!?
