I second the BuggSpray... I think SeaCatMich put me on to it... we have had it on the boat for 3-4 years and it works pretty good.

Give it a month... the June slow is upon us.

Here is a great article on it:

I would love to see it in action. The military has been using it for some time.

Most tournaments state 'licensed charter captain' onboard. I don't think it matters who owns the boat. Some even qualify it to licensed within the last 5 years.

I saw them first hand at the sport show last year and I thought they were as good if not better than Big Jon's. I ended up finding a deal on some Big Jon's so that is what I have. All metal construction... I don't think you can go wrong.

If trading were legal... it would be exploited and we would no longer have 'sportfishing' for salmon. People would do it for profit and deplete the resource. It's counter intuitive.

Gmfishon..... are you the fish nazi, do you work with the cops?

Verizon. I just downloaded the GLF app and connected to my wifi and it's working now.
It's almost like some connections have a crappy route... maybe some bad DNS entries floating around. Any idea if the IP changed recently?

I got a new phone today... Samsung Galaxy S4. I cannot access this site with it. I get a 504 unavailable error. The site takes too long to load and the gateway times the session out. I get a similar experience with a Windows Business Vista, IE9 machine... although with that one If I wait 2 minutes it finally loads.

On a side note... this is on my WANT list... a chamber style vacuum sealer:
http://www.amazon.com/VacMaster-Portable-Chamber-Vacuum-Sealer/dp/B003YE8FG0
I read somewhere that in Alaska the foodsaver style vacuum sealers are at every garage sale because people are investing in chamber style sealers. They do a MUCH better job.
Anyone have one that can chime in? I would use it for salmon and venison.

I would say --years-- if its vacuum sealed well. I have fresh frozen walleye from erie that was 2 years old this winter frozen in a block of ice and it tasted great!
Smoked fish has way less water in it too so it might not freezer burn as bad too.
I've been bugging my brother that we should smoke a ton, vacuum seal it, and put it in the freezer to forget about it and it never happens. We always eat it too quick!

Joel, why are you running IE9?
Vista Business... max level of IE you can run is 9.
I do not have issues with IE10 with this site on another machine that runs Windows 7.
-
I have issues with IE9 that just started in the last two weeks. It takes like 2 minutes to load this site, and once it loads, anything I click on takes like 2 minutes to load. I've tried everything... clearing cache, flushing DNS. Running IE with no plugins. I don't have problems with other sites in IE9, just this one.
With Chrome everything is super fast. I will just use Chrome for this site.

Nice work! Congrats!!

Maybe you should pick up a mega millions lottery ticket.

If you follow the temp breaks in the attached screenshot, that's usually the best place to find fish. I highlighted the tight lines in yellow... those are drastic temp differences. Those tight lines slowly move offshore. Typically in June you can find that break out in 300+ and the steelhead will be there.
Once the lake sets up and we get some thermoclines its a different ball game. Until then, if you follow the surface breaks, you typically find fish.

It's working... I was listening last night.
Friday's and Saturdays see the most chatter.
So far its working better than ever. It's been up a month with no intervention.

The largest selection I have ever seen is when we go to Erie walleye fishing at Bottomline Bait and Tackle over in Gibraltar, MI. The seem to be better priced over there too. I always pick up a few every trip.

I saw a used Depth Rader at a garage sale yesterday for $150.00.

The Holland Steelheaders have a Tuesday night league as well.
Getting into copper

I have some 330 GTIs and they barely fit a 250 copper. You have to make sure and have fireline or powerpro backing.
I would say "no". A 300 copper will not fit on a 320 GTi or a Magda 30. They are both too small. Buy a Convector 55L for 300 coppers, you won't be sorry.
