  1. Fished the afternoon yesterday.  Had a slow pick and could not find a steady bite to turn and go back over a spot. Started by the chalets and went couple miles south of the Cook plant. Got 12 coho, most on thin fins and boards with 50-80 ft lead same as our last trip. Got a couple on small orange dodgers and green coho flies on divers out 10 ft. We fished 7 to 30 fow.
Had the closest call to a collision in my life. We were trolling along and see this boat running on a plane right at us. We think he is going to turn but he keeps coming. We start waving and screaming and punch up the speed. That made a difference, he never altered course and ran right off our stern between us and our starboard boards. He wiped out that side. Just missed the port side boards.  The lines from our boat to the outside boards got caught in his standing poles in his holders and it ripped those boards into the air crashing into his rods before the lines snapped.  He stopped a few hundred yards behind us after that. We cleared our spread and motored over to retrieve our gear. As we approached, the crew was very apologetic and said their Capt had a seizure. The crew did not realize what was happening.  Our anger quickly turned to concern but they said he was coming out of it and ok.  He needs to see his doctor, he should not be behind any steering wheel with that condition. We got all our gear back.  Hope the guy is ok.

  2. Fished out of the Joe this morning we were 15 for 18. 2 coho 2 kings biggest one was 15lbs. Rest were Lakers. Ran south west to 100ft started marking fish on the bottom and hit a nice coho on a rigger set at 35. Then hit a 10lb king on a 5 color on moonshine mag RV apple seed. Sog was 3.1 mph ball speed was 2.5. Then the Lakers took over for a few hours. Lakers were up high in the water column. We headed out to around 200ft with a Laker here and there. We decided to troll East back in . At 120ft we started marking fish everywhere from the bottom up . There was bait balls and fish everywhere. We hit another coho and the a 15lb king on a John king moonbeam 12in fish flasher with a uv meat rig . Ball speed was 3.3 .

It was cool to see how much bait fish and fish showed up throughout the day.

  3. That stuff works I tried it over the summer on Lake Huron and did good.
I brought 4 or 5 different kinds of cut bait and whole herring and the only one that didn’t get bit was dream Weaver‘s ballyhoo strips. I was fishing out of Stone Port and it was lights out for king’s. ( way better fishing over there then Lake Michigan was this summer) by the way.
