  4. Thanks all for the info. Turkey pretty quiet so may go down later this morning. Probably try the old school spoons first. Only brought a casting rod with me this trip. Sent from my SM-N910V using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App

  6. Just curious if anyone uses one of these and how well they work? The 1991 Lund 2250 Sport Fisherman I purchased last fall has one and hydrolysis for it works, just haven't tested the boat out in the water. Boat has the 4.3LX with 4 bladed prop. Just wondering what kind of speeds this plate will get.me down to. Thanks. Sent from my SM-N910V using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  7. Thanks for the referral. The one thing I was curious about is although the top seems to be plywood, the bottom part of the transom is solid. Have not climbed under there yet but it looks like solid board. Sent from my SM-N910V using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  8. G'morning. Was thinking of replacing the transom on my 16ft StarCraft 160SS.Starting to rot upper corners. What is best type of wood to use? Ideas or thoughts? Sent from my SM-N910V using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  9. If you call them directly you can usually get a better rate. We are a family of 5 and get the two bedroom suites. They have a small kitchen and are very roomy. Kitchen saves having to go out to eat everyday. We usually get it for about $1100 for Sunday to Saturday. That is always around a holiday. Usually a lot cheaper during the weekdays.
  10. AllenW, whenever I go back home to visit family back in Two Harbors, we always stay at Superior Shores. Puts you half way between the two. I have noticed that there are a lot of B&Bs and lodging opening up between TH and Duluth, but not so many north of there.
  11. Just seen this too. Definitely a great area for fishing and hunting. Buddy owns a place up near there and go up there when I can. We crash at his place during the Tightline for Troops weekend and launch out of Frankfurt to fish the area. Beautiful country up there. That is what got me back into the fishing bite again.
  12. I will be up on the North Shore fishing out of Two Harbors in July this year for about a week and if it wasn't for the high school reunion I would consider stop halfway and going after some of those lakers. Go through the UP to get to hometown every time. Always wanted to take a week or two and just slowly work my way from Two Harbors to Detroit fishing along the way.
  13. Gonna have to use that swim noodle trick. Kid has several in my garage she never uses anymore.
  14. Thank you all for the welcomes. Look forward to learning some new tricks and tips.
  15. Old fisherman new to site Hello everyone. Been fishing about 43 yrs now. Grew up on the North Shore of Lake Superior fishing both inland lakes and out on the big lake itself, all year long. Now living in Detroit and going to be getting back into fishing a little heavier now. Been going up to Frankfort and Manistee fishing Lake Michigan for salmon last couple of years using a 16 footer but bought a '91 Lund 22.5ft so going to be hitting the big lakes harder starting this spring. Looking to make some friends and learn some of the secrets of fishing Lake Huron and Lake Michigan for trout and salmon.
