I typically run a shorter lead on the riggers, say 20 - 30 feet when in a pack or during harbor patrol. I also will run dipsies. I leave the lead core in the rod locker until I am away from the pack on the open water.

Paulywood,
I just re-wired my Islander last weekend using the distribution panel that you show from West Marine. I used the 12 gang unit for future expansion. I also used Anchor brand lug connectors with the Shrink Tube insulators. Made for a real neat and professional looking wiring job. Now all the fuses are in one location for ease in trouble shooting.

I fish out of Whitehall and some times fish south of the White Lake Pier heads.

Moonshine Happee Meal always took fish on my boat this year. Flounder Pounder and Bloody Nose also took some.

I wanted to name the boat (22 ft Islander) after my daughter Kara but wanted something catchy. So we chose to call her the Kara_B_N and I often refer to myself and my crew as Pirates.

Got to love them old Starcrafts. I had a 1971 Starcraft Holiday, 18 footer with a 120 HP Mercruiser I/O. I outfitted it with 4 manual downriggers that were hand made by a machinist. I had 4 rods and a handful of lures. That got me hooked on Salmon fishing. Started out in Lake Huron fishing out of Tawas and Rogers City. I now have about 30 rods, 6 tackle boxes, 4 electric riggers on a 1987 Starcraft Islander 221, Fishing out of Monroe and Montague.
