  1. Ralph, I see the Doc. a week from Thursday. I hope to be out of this sling and into therapy. I have a real good plan for rehab. I do want the best outcome possible so I will go with the Doctors orders.

I have the shakes also from withdrawal. I like reading all the great reports but it's kinda bittersweet. I just wanna be out there.:)

    Keep hammering them.

Its hell gettin old isn't it Frank. :D

    Miss all your reports.

I tried the other side of the bay this year. Ralph and I hit the right spot.

  2. Headed for the USCG Regional Exam Center in Toledo early Monday morning. Got my 4th Captains License renewal application all filled out, and my fingers all washed and oil free for the printing requirements. Still think this is a crock, having to go all the way to Toledo just because of finger printing. But I haven't been there in over 15 years when I first got my captains license. Have any of you been there recently, and is there any parking or floor/room number changes I should now about?

I agree on the crock part. Most cop shops are now digital, I see no reason to go there. I hope it changes by the time I need to renew (2010)

  3. Josh.

Heres some local history info for you concerning those lampreys. The ones that attack Muskies, Sturgeons (and for the most part) other non-salmo species in Lake St.Claire and Erie are called Silver Lampreys, are smaller then the others and are one of the few actually native to the Great lakes.

Seen them many times. Mostly attached to sturgeon or muskys. Also have seen them being burped up from walleyes in the SCR. Good food source for them.

  4. Its such a good time, well was in the past anyway....

A long, long, time ago (about 21 yearsish) I used to go with some friends from down the street...

Lake St. Clair, we'd go at night and all I can really remember is gopping about a dozen worms on hooks and fishing in 80-120 ft holes in the lake and sit there telling stories until the bells went off on the rather stout fishing poles that reminded me of phone poles.

Once you pulled them up from these holes they would stay on top of the water for a while after releasing them and actually do tail dances on the water (fish looking straight up at the moon, keeping themselves up with their tails) Coolest thing you'll ever see especially if the moon was out lighting up the lake.

At the time (and looks like its still the same) you could only keep one per year.... We caught 3 keepers 1 night and didn't keep a 1.

At one time all three were tail dancing!

That brought back memories seeing those, Thanks Billy V!

You probably fished the North Channel of the SCR. The lake at its deepest point is only 22ft. There is a 85 ft hole in the North Channel tho.

I do run sturgeon charters in the SCR. Average fish I would say is about 45"+ with 50-60" fairly common. I saw one next to the boat while jigging for walleye that was every bit 75".

  5. I too charter part-time for now. I do have my own website.

I was wondering where to best put my advertising dollars this winter and next spring. We do have a couple of outdoor publications here in Michigan I may look into. Of course there is the local yellow pages.

Was wondering about those packet of coupons you get in the mail, if those would be effective in and around the local area? Or even flyers attached to small local newspapers. Anyone got any ideas.
