Nov 9: The "bloater" fish, a deepwater cisco, was re-introduced into Lake Ontario offshore of Oswego, bringing the fish back to the lake for the first time in nearly thirty years, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and partner agencies announced today. Link

Oh yeah, gettin some good wind out there today on Erie, nice walleye chop. When I look at Ohio's north shore and consider all of the abandoned industrial property and the soon to be shutdown First Energy plants, it seems a shame to even consider offshore wind farms, vs putting them on the shoreline. but it saves those power generation companies the real estate costs of developing on land if they put them in the water, so I imagine they will not quit pushing for them.

A fishery comprised of atlantics, walleye, steelhead, and lakers in Huron would be something I would gladly take an annual trip for (from Ohio). Hopefully they get the hatchery details/issues worked out and then we can see if a viable atlantic salmon fishery develops.

The author missed some key points to the article. Notes that Michigan/Huron are down 2 ft, and that the water must be going to Erie and over Niagara Falls because of teh St. Clair / Detroit river Dredging. But didn't look at where Lake Erie's water level was (it is down) and what the flow rate over Niagara Falls compared to its' historical rates (which are known).
