  1. Set lines at 6:30- started right out front as this is where most of the boats were. Didn't mark anything so started west. Nothing until 9:00 when we lost one on rigger 55 down MS Green Jeans 130 FOW. Trolled out to 150 and lost another on MS Bad Toad 70 down rigger. Started pulling lines thinking skunk. One rod to go was rigger at 55 in 130 FOW and green jeans went again. This time he stayed on and my son held on for dear life as he took a couple nice runs before I netted him just as the swivel pulled out and he swam into the net. 9 lb. King. Finished 1 for 3. Marked very few fish. His stomach was empty.

    Good luck, Dave

  2. Another question- what's the best setup for running plugs- i.e. behind dipseys, riggers, flashers. I just bought a silver horde and the diagram shows a leader with a swivel on it and the j-plug doesn't show one. What does the typical setup look like?

Thanks again for the much needed help.

Planning on going out of Holland tomorrow...if the weather cooperates.

  3. Thanks for the info. So you put a loop at the end of the fly leader with no swivel? Then loop directly thru the large swivel on the SD/flasher? I will shorten the lead from dipsey to flasher and slow down to around 2.0. Probably going to fast as well.

Thanks again. More questions to follow. Updating profile now.

  4. Trying to get my flasher/flies to go with no luck. Question: Probably not the problem but do you tie fly leader directly to flasher or tie on a swivel and snap on to flasher? What is best knot to tie with heavy leader line?

I ran them on riggers and dipsey on Saturday morning with no luck. My leader from dipsey to flasher is around 10' and from flasher to fly is whatever length the BW flies come with.

Anyway, thanks in advance. Much apprecaited. This big lake fishing is addicting.

  5. 1st Post- appreciate all the info everyone gives on this site- very refreshing.

Went 1-3 this morning. MS Bloody nose on 300 copper- small King. Had 1 other good rip on the copper. Also took a shaker on dipsey 150 back with green dolphin.

Belly was full on the king.

Still struggling as a green horn. I need some lessons. Grew up in Minnesota where the big decision was leeches or crawlers! Not everything and anything plus the kitchen sink.

    Good luck.
