  1. Made it out with my friend Chad yesterday. Probably set the 1st line around 8am right at the piers and started heading south. Worked the skinny water, about 12-20fow for the 1st hour. Moved out to 50fow and started pecking away. Not one fish on a spoon yesterday. Here's what worked:

2 color lead core with double jointed rapala (looks like a perch with an orange belly).

Dipsy, with white spinnie & a white fly, took the most fish of the day.

Deep diving Firetiger thunderstick jr. 50' behind the boards.

Switched the riggers up all day. Missed a nice rip on a small blue J Plug.

Finished the day 10/13 all ho's, number 10 went back, we thought it was a perch but just a very small ho. Played around with the new video camera yesterday, little difficult with only 2 of us to get the action. Will edit a little clip and share with ya's.

  2. Wow Robert, that's a sweet deal for free trees. I'd definitely take the short trip over to Swartz Creek for some trees. My backyard is in need of trees. We had a garden 3 years ago. I tilled it up and made back into being part of the yard. THere is no question that the fresh veggies are awesome. We just neglected taking the time to manage it. Now that we have a little one maybe it will be something to talk about.

What kind of trees can you guys recommend that are very hardy, and grow fast????

  3. I know what you mean. Was going to go to the zoo and hook up with a few buds and go down to New Buffalo. Forecast just isn't looking good enough to do it. Winds 18mph, with gust to 33, I don't care what the forecast says, it will be bumby out there. Not too mention the likelihood of rain

  4. Yup, we fished there last year, I think a little bit later in April and smacked em real good. Just like you said 5-20 fow. Hopefully by next weekend there will be some fish around. It's a long way over there for me, and would really like to get some action. If you hear anything this week give me and update if you could.

    thanks again!

  5. Hey guys! Looking for a little input to anyone who is fishing the south end of Lake Michigan. We are going to NB next weekend. Just looking for any reports from now til then if anyone is fishing this area. Any help is greatly appreciated. Heard a good report from Gary Light, but have no idea where this is, I assume, maybe gary indiana. Thanks in advance.

    Jason

  6. Now if it were you or me, I feel confident I would be facing major penalties. I couldn't agree more, this is a bunch of crap. One time shame on you, 2 times shame on me! Something should be done about this. Permits for this outfit should be pulled with no chance of renewal. Someone needs to step up to the plate and make an expample of this situation1:angry2:

  7. Last year i was running 3 per side. Going to try an up the anti this year to 4, when I have enough people with me. Release can be expensive. I 've seen guys you shower curtain rings and tie a rubber band to that. Check em out at any retailer, and you'll get the idea. Probably find some online for rather cheap. The other key is to get a lot of them.

  8. I have a set of boards very similar to what you purchased. I for one like them very much. It is my opinion that I would rather run 2 big boards than the inlines. The reasoning, is that I would rather fight the fish than drag em in behind the inlines. Don't get me wrong, I also have inlines, but have moved away from them. I have several releases for the big boards and use rubberbands attached to my line. Haven't had any tangle issues yet, but it doesn't matter what you run (inlines or big boards) you're bound to get a tangle at some point. I have 2 planer reels but have not even installed them yet. I let the boards out, and bring em in by hand, which is not difficult or time consuming. Another fisherman tipped me off, when bringing in your port boards by hand, turn to that side and it will come in much easier. Something else to look into is something I was talking about at the expo this weekend, and that is release savers. Some sort of line that big jon makes that if/when your planer board line breaks you don't loose your releases.

  9. Well Dan, I have always appreciated the free info you give in the form of posts. I had an interesting conversation with a buddy a few weeks back. Went something like this.

    Let's go ice fishing. me

I'm not going unless we go with one of these guys who has been slamming them! bud

    What? me

Not going to waste my time if I know we can't catch fish. bud

It really rubbed me the wrong way. I love to catch fish as much as the next guy, however, hunting and succeeding on my own really feels great. It just goes to show you how lazy some people have become. And also how much these reports effect some people. I wouldn't solely rely on someone who I have never met to put me on fish. If we just happened to be out the same day and hooked up out there, I'm all for it. But would not plan a trip around that. I tried to explain that these guys slamming the fish have put in a lot of time and energy into figuring out where these walleye are, and noted that we need to do the same and it just doesn't happen overnight. Collectively through years of fishing we would be able to come up with several locations that we find that hold fish.

    So in short I understand..
