Fine catch for Keith and good Ludington report. Any pictures? Thanks.

Looks like this fish is about twice the size of the cooler behind him, great fish, thanks.

The double orange crush in any flavor mfr. has been the most consistently productive lure for over 20 years on steelies for me. I like the Yeck, NK, and Stinger. I also insist, as others pointed out, in bumping up that speed to 3-4.5 mph. Riggers can be hot at 6'-25' down most of the time too, 2 to 5 color leadcore way out on a bird/planer. If you want to get higher up, use a keel sinker on plain mono. Great posts here on this thread. P.S. Every once in a while when fish are high, I shoot a red wiggle wart on straight line way down the chute, kills em every time.

If you marked alot of bait fish they were lock jawed as a result. The fish are moving north slowly, but will be up here soon this month. Try shallow too as of late, like 35-50 fow to start for the first hour or two. You can always move out later.

I find spinner baits are awesome on the rivers and inland lakes more often than not. Thanks for the good report.

Fintastic King and great overall catch and video, thanks guys. Btw, that's some fish mauler aboard netting.

Dave. all the guys here gave great info., and so, follow it as close as possible. It's also interesting, as some have said, to watch your lines and see how they run, long or short, and whether they are straining long. Slow down then, or otherwise, speed up, according to under-currents. best to buy a Fish Hawk to tell the exact situation for sure, great fishing tool.

Sorry, but I must admit, haven't had time nor the inclination to join yet either, I like GLF and some others yet best, kind replies and no gossip needed....good guys mostly....lol.

Nothing less than an outstanding job there Kevin, keep up the good work, and thanks for such an impressive post.

Some good advice on Johnson's and Hamlin Sports, though, wish we had a shop that repairs props, but we don't now yet. Gotta buy a new one here yet, thanks.

I've got a new X-4 and luv it too, the depth raider sounds productive and good too. I like adrenalin's post, with that kind of customer service, it's surprising and refreshing in this age for sure. Thanks for the posts guys.

Todd, fyi check out fish-ludington.com, and also Capt. Chuck's for the current bite. Many have been making a long trek south near Little Pt. Sable for more action the last couple weeks. Good luck.

Thanks & good report Todd, keep up the good work, and watch the clouds/weather patterns for safety right now, it's been sketchy.

Collin, dittos on the storms, looks like you still did well considering, early blackie too makes for some stories. Thanks for the pics..

The Sauble Resort is always a very nice landing/camp with cottages and boat rentals if you haven't heard of it, good prices too. Clean and comfy.

This is a very useful and polite forum Jake, thanks for joining in the fun.

Thanks for the Saugatuck fish report Ron, good to know it's productive there yet. Nice perch action.

I think everyone posting pretty much covered the reasons for the decrease in riggers. I am from the old school too, and I still agree with Frank, keep those rigger options open, there have been many days when the fish are deep, real deep, like 100'-175' down, and the only easy way to get there is the downrigger yet. Wish they had bigger cannon balls than 14#, that's the biggest I've found.

Nice report, sorry to hear about the storms, they were in Ludington too this weekend.
-
That early fog looked and acted very much like a squall line, not something to stay out and see in type weather. Sameo this early morning, nasty storms for a couple hours, then the day became nice. We found nice steelhead off the bank in 220' fow riggers 55' and 300 copper. Way too much bait is keeping the bite light and not hot yet.

Nice to hear NY fishing is still up. And that Big Brown, wow, very impressive. Thanks for the info. and pics..

I thought Roy Hobbs was The Natural in the baseball film, good name. I'm not in Linwood but I think you can find help on this great forum for your summer catches. Thanks and good luck.

Nice catch Scott, looks like the catch is bowing the board downward it's so heavy...lol.

Thanks for the update Matt, keep em coming. The bite in Ludville moved quite far south lately, close to little Pt. Sable. Although a few guys said the early bite was way in tight, like 35-40 fow fishing near bottom for bigger kings.
moonshine plugs

We're running them daily here in Ludington early and late in the day with great success. The Moonshine glow plugs are a bit pricey, but truly worth the money. They really glow well, sometimes hard to find as usually sold out.
