  1. I have 2 of those reels and do like them better than the okuma's.

I have put 5 colors of lc on them only getting down to about 25'. One could probably get 6 or 7 colors on with a braid backing. Just won't reach the 100' depth. #1 balls would work better at that depth with braid then a mono leader.

  2. The leadcore isn' so bad its the wireline setup thats the killer. When I told my wife what the cost is to set up two wire rods she gave me that look.

Well, I did win the battle, she gave me the ok BUT ,has yet to show me the money. I convinced her by the longevity of the line used. Compared to respooling mono every year.

You can also pickup the magda combos with 4 rods/reel for about 200. I picked up 4 3yrs ago for $180.

  3. I decided to try them. They are 10'6". Will be used for a horizontle flat line for eye's. Not sure how they will fit in my spread on the pond.

What benifit is it if any to use a longer rigger rod vs short. Is it just preference?

  4. I am looking at a couple of 10ftrs. Thinking about using them for longlining for eye's. Since I pull double duty on some of my rods. Looking for other uses of the innerflo rods. Where I could use them for the pond in my setup.

    Thanks for your answers.

  5. Having the luxury of growing up with my Grandparents owning land along Rock lake in Lake Millls. We were able to leave our gear in the boat till the next day and just jump in and go. Most fishing was for gills. That was back in the mid to late 60's. 4 yrs ago purchased a boat that was set up for big lakes. A freind convinced me to take it out and have been hooked ever since. I new that once ventured out I would be hooked. I had been on a few charters and loved every minute. Friends keep telling me that a charter Capt. is in my future, cause my lines don't get a chance to drown.

  6. Go pro. I have had the worst luck with the foodsavers. It is not evan owned by tilia any longer. I started with the gamesaver, exchanged it aftewr 3mo's. Burnt the next one out in 14mo's. Went to the gamesaver delux. It was supposed to continualy seal with no probs. Sent that back to the company upgraded to game saver turbo plus. Which is supposedly the best they have. Had this one for a month and sent it back. The one I have now still can't seal repeatedly, also does not vacum as they claim being a dual piston vacum.

    Misc probs I've had.

Does not seal due to faulty heat strip- cannot purchase just the strip to repair. No parts sold for under the hood. Just the main seals can be purchased

    Does not vacum

    Bad seals

Gets hot fast and will not vacum or seal.

I will say that the customer service has been real personable and nice to deal with.

I would recomend going to a more expensive sealer. As has been said.

  7. Here's another recipe to try. 1 gal water- if using tap and chlorinated let stand for an hour prior to using. 1 1/2 to 2 cups of canning salt (your salt pref) I use 1 1/2. 2 cups dark drown suger 1-2 cups Mogan David 20/20 wine 1/4 lemon juice Mix well, layer fish, let sit for min 12hrs 24 being best.( I have heard some smokehouses let brine for up to 4 days) Rinse fish with good water, pat dry and let sit to pelicle. (will give the meat a glaze) takes about an hr. Bring smoker up to temp of 125. Place meat skin down or if skinless use cheesecloth on sprayed racks. Add chips of choice to smokerbox. (hickory my fav) Smoke on for at least 4hrs up to 12hrs (6 being my choice) Turn heat up to 165-170 for 4hrs or till your likeing. I do a taste test after 3. On larger fillets I use a temp gauge. When done leave stand till cool. This seems to release the skin from the racks easier. A few tips I have learned. Larger fillets need more time for brinning. I cut the tail section off as well as thinner portions of the meat and add to brine later. I at times will brush honey over meat after smoking proccess.
